Hello,

It has been noted that my article does not adequately evidence the subject's notability, however, I have assembled the articles based on another similar article which has been accepted by wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoregolf.

How is it that they do not have any outside references and my article requires them? How do you reference a magazine?

AverageJoe10 (talk) 06:07, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Scoregolf article was created in 2006, when no review process existed. There are also outstanding issues with that article, as noted on that page. So it would be better to use a recognised Wikipedia Good Article as an example to work from for your draft Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Canadian Golf Magazine, rather than just any magazine article. Good Articles about magazines can be found at Wikipedia:Good articles/Social sciences and society under "Magazines and journals". You should be able to see from these how to provide sources to demonstrate the notability of a magazine. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:03, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are not only five references. Others are located in the article itself like the See Alsos and [[reference|text in article]] form. Moreover, it is an article about Wikipedia, so why is it not accepted. And by the way, it is translated from pages zh:维基百科:文言文维基百科 and zh-classical:文言維基大典, and partially only. Most of it are my research and they are all from the Wikipedia itself so Wikipedians should know. 124.197.123.242 (talk) 06:34, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia projects do not have automatic notability. Information must be verifiable in independent reliable sources. You can find more information about this at Wikipedia:VRS. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:06, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

=I wish to highlight that one of my submissions at Articles for Creation is pending review and has yet to be reviewed despite such a long period of time. It is Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Zhang_Zetian. I submitted the page three times and from the day I started the Afc talk page to 29 September 2013 (third submission), it is almost one month. Till now, no reviewers seem to have reviewed the page.

I wish to ask reviewers to review the page as soon as possible as I have waited for so long.

Thanks!

The submission has now been reviewed (and declined) by LukeSurl. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:54, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why didn't I get in? There was nothing like it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fruitwarrior (talkcontribs) 12:08, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is true, but unfortunately your submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/How to Make Symbols with the Keyboard comes under Wikipedia:NOTHOWTO. (There are some suggestions there as to some other places you might want to put the information.) Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:55, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know what else I can do to improve the article. I am writing about this start up and there are not many sources out there, given that it just launched last month and it is still under Incubation at iBizAfrica. Thanks. Smartjon (talk) 12:12, 7 October 2013 (UTC)Smartjon[reply]

If the company has not been widely noted in independent sources, it may just be too soon for there to be a Wikipedia article about it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:52, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia Administrators:

Could you please inform me what it means if a submission for Articles for Creation is "held"? I found the following explanation after I clicked on an icon on my submitted article (titled "Baye McNeil"): "A "Hold" version of the AfC logo, for use in informing users that their submission has been held."

Thank you very much for your help!Minusminority (talk) 15:45, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please ignore the icon, and the grey box that it is part of. The yellow box currently at the end of the article indicates that the article is submitted for review and will be reviewed in due course. It may take several weeks. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:51, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Curious as to why my article for submission was denied?

CaitlinCoreilly11 (talk) 17:18, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coreilly11, did you read the guidance in the pink box, and my comments below that? Can you let us know what is unclear about those suggestions so we can clarify it for you? MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:23, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please elaborate why my article was not approved? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr. Appuji (talkcontribs) 20:53, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dr. Appuji, did you read the comments in the pink box, and the had-typed comments below that, and the highlighted comments further down in the body of the draft where I explain the issue with your footnote formatting? Can you let us know what of those suggestions are not clear, and we can clarify them for you? MatthewVanitas (talk) 22:47, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I created an article here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/HUKA_Entertainment), and it says that it hasn't been submitted for review at the top. However at the bottom of the page, there is a yellow box that says it has been submitted and that it's waiting to be reviewed. I'm confused by the conflicting messages! Can you help me understand?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duke Coyne (talkcontribs) 23:00, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Duke Coyne! It's a bug in how AFC displays submission templates: often there are multiple boxes, and the yellow "Waiting review" ones end up at the bottom. Basically, so long as there is a yellow "awaiting review" template on your page anywhere, you're good to go. MatthewVanitas (talk) 01:41, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings -

I am working to post short, factual entries for two organizations for which I work -- one is a nonprofit in Erie, Pennsylvania, the other a wing of the organization that provides employment services. Both are legitimate organizations, with one having a nearly 40-year history and thousands of clients. Is it perhaps possible that someone could give a quick look at what I have created and offer a hand/advice? It seems the need is to get more reference, but I am not sure what I can add. Do we need newspaper articles, perhaps?

Thank you very much and I appreciate any assistance.

Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MulticulturalCRC (talkcontribs) 23:30, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MulticulturalCRC, a few points:
  • The main guideline for what references you need are found at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). You positively must show that uninvolved information authorities (journalists, academics, etc) have seen fit to write about each agency, its career and impact. It's not enough to show the org exists and give its own webpage, you must show that others have taken time to publicly write about it from an outside perspective.
  • If you're involved in the organisations, please do read WP:Conflict of interest so you can be aware of the great need to be neutral and non-promotional in writing.
  • You are going to need to modify your username as soon as is convenient; Wikipedia usernames must pertain to individuals, "group accounts" or names that apply such are not allowed. So "MulticulturalCRC" is not allowed as a username since theoretically that could be passed around the group and not accountable to one user. However, "BobfromMulticulturalCRC" or "PhillyPhanMCRC" would be acceptable, since those have the name or nickname of a specific individual. Please go to WP:Change username and ask for a modification to your name which will make it particular to you as an individual, and make it clear that it is not a shared account.
Hope this helps, let us know if you have more questions. MatthewVanitas (talk) 01:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
