Hi

Is it possible / sensible to add incoming links to a pending article to help demonstrate notability? There are several places in Wikipedia where the subject of my proposed entry is already mentioned (see Waddesdon Manor here and here for example). Thanks for any advice.

  • You should feel free to add links to articles that don't exist yet (which show up as red links like this), as long as there's reason to think that the article should exist eventually. In this case, I'm sure you could add a link to Elie Lainé to the Waddesdon Manor page. (I wouldn't add a link on the French page because it's not considered all that helpful to link from one language Wikipedia to another) I don't think people really consider internal links when checking notability, but at any rate I've looked at your page and it seems fantastic, so I'm just going to approve it now! —Neil 15:01, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello...my article subject is a published author with accredited sources from the publishers. However, this subject was declined as having no verifiable sources. How can I verify that he is indeed a notable author without citing publisher's references? Drrockyfl (talk) 19:17, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no problem with citing the publisher, in fact doing so would help support some of the facts in the article. But there are two purposes to references, they support the facts in the article, which the publishers sources do, and they show the subject is notable. The publishers sources don't do this, you need other reliable sources, in addition to the publisher's sources talking about Dr Schnell. The mere fact Dr Schnell/Rock has been published does not make him a notable author. See WP:AUTHOR for the guidelines on including writers. Rankersbo (talk) 20:34, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
