editWikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/RADA Enterprises
Hello,
A have been trying for days now to upload our page 'RADa Enterprises' but each time my referencing is said to not be adequate and I need more external validated refernces. Please could you advise as to what I am doing wrong and give me any suggestions that would improve my article.
Radaenterprises (talk) 09:16, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- "In just over a decade, RADA Enterprises [4] has built up a reputable name for itself and has developed to include a large range of services." Not neutral. See WP:NPOV
"RADA Enterprises's portfolio of services now includes: Team Building Activities; Technical and Drama-based Consultancy services; Drama Workshops; Venue hire of RADA's theatres, cinema screen, studios and bar spaces; and provision of event services and corporate entertainment." Not encyclopedic. WP:NOT
Please give context in the first sentence (before going into detail or where it is located: say what it does first (provide income for the Academy and students.
Use the full name of RADA before abbreviating it.
Do not use the RADA own website as the sole source. And make sure other sources mention RADA as the MAIN topic, not just one sentence.
Hope this help and good luck. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 09:33, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Aricle for Creation: Erik Bosgraaf Dear Madam/Sir, I have been attempting to offer the English translation of the article on recorder player Eric Bosgraaf a couple of times now. Last status is that it has been blanked. Forgive me that I do not understand why. Erik is a succesful musician who deserves a Wikipedia page, not only in the Netherlands and Germany, but also in the English speaking world. I have been trying to provide my contribution with references as requested by your reviewers, this being difficult as a musician is not someone to be quoted but communicates by his instrument. Even the reference to his performance in the prime time popular tv programme De Wereld Draait Door has not met your criteria. Even the mentioning of his Dutch Music Award and moreover the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award were not helpful. What more can I do to convince your reviewers that Erik Bosgraaf is an outstanding musician performing worldwide in the main concert houses, who in the Netherlands only is to be compared with grand old man Frans Brüggen, who indeed has an English Wikipedia page? What can I do? Yours sincerely, Herman Gelens Herman Gelens (talk) 10:11, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, the blanking was a mistake so I have undone that. If this guy did win the "most prestigious Dutch Music Prize" then he certainly appears notable at face value. At that point the main issue is just verifying the content in the submission. I think I'm going to ask a Dutch-speaking admin I know to look into this, if I can't find any easy sources. The Arrow Shirt which might better be defined as the "Arrow Brand" is a subsidiary of Cluett, Peabody & Co., Inc. I'm writing to you from PVH Corp., owners of Cluett, Peabody & Co. Inc., in an effort to explain why the Arrow brand should be represented by their own Wiki page. If you should need written permission from the company we can also provide that. The Arrow brand has been revolutionary from the early 1900s and is the only recognizable brand today that has become of Cluett. To include the Arrow brand within the Wiki of the entire Cluett brand would not be a representation of the brand. In addition "The Arrow Collar Man" has 'his' own Wiki page but the brand itself can't?

- Wikipedia is not the place to advertise or promote a product. We write about notable topics based on what has been written about them previously in objective, reliable sources independent of the topic. We don't "represent" any brand or product and don't decide whether or not to include something based on its association with other topics.
- Please also be aware of our conflict of interest policy: we strongly discourage people writing about organisations with which they're affiliated. joe•roet•c 19:38, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Neil Tetkowski Article Creation confusion
editHello Wikipedia,
I have recently written my first article about artist Neil Tetkowski - Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Neil Tetkowski. I wrote the entire article in my own words, citing 26 references that are from independent news sources and academic journals. I ended up receiving the same response I got from my original article submission, but the reasons why were pretty vague. Are you able to provide me with specific reasons or examples on why my article did not meet Wikipedia's criteria?
I am still new to creating articles here, maybe I am missing something quite obvious. Thank you.
Subjectivedes (talk) 19:53, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Subjectivedes, It appears that the reviewer declined the article for formatting issues, which is not a sufficient reason for rejecting articles on its own. The subject appears notable vis-a-vis the sources provided. I moved the article to the mainspace. Please work on the article's formatting, and bibliographical citations issues there. Thanks for your contribution. Dalisays (talk) 02:08, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi there, We were told that our submission on Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Canadian Alternatives to Incarceration is not adequately supported by reliable, independent sources. I am confused by this since the information we have used is from a published book by Oxford used in criminology classrooms across Canada. So are you saying that the book we used is not a reliable source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwantlenstudent (talk • contribs) 20:14, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Kwantlenstudent, Coverage of the subject should be by multiple independent sources that are reliable; not just one. Certainly on a controversial subject such as this, there must be a diversity of thought, and one source simply does not encompass that diversity, rather posits only its own ideas on the subject. The issue is one of neutrality, and presenting the subject in a way that does not reflect any inherent bias linked to that one source. Dalisays (talk) 02:02, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Articles for Creation: WDCW
editHello,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/WDCW
I received the following message regarding my article submission: "This submission doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject.... Please provide more information on why the organization is worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia, and support it by citing published sources that are reliable and independent."
I am a bit confused, as I cite numerous sources in the articles that highlight major accomplishments, including one that shows us being nominated as one of the 'Best Advertising Agencies' in the country by the American Association of Advertising http://www.aaaa.org/news/bulletins/Pages/120toole_031612.aspx.
There are several advertising agencies in similar size/stature who got their pages up. It would be great to know the difference between their pages and ours: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSD%26M_Idea_City - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McKinney_(advertising_agency) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker/DZP
Please let me know what else I can edit so that I can get our page up! Thank you so much.
Take care, Andrew — Preceding unsigned comment added by RudyWillingham (talk • contribs) 20:59, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Why is YOUR company notable to the average person? I smell WP:COI as soon as I read "our page". It is not your page, it is our page. Write an article suitable for inclusion, then we will see. In the meantime please read WP:NOT. :- ) DCS 01:50, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- To be more specific after more carefully looking at the other articles and yours, the other article 'appear' to have some substance to them. Your article consists of one line pitches. Make it look and read like the others, and you should not have a problem. :- ) DCS 16:48, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
