Issues to be mediated edit

Primary issues (added by the filing party)
  • As a background into this matter before I address the issue, it should be noted that Obi2canibe is a supporter of the separate state that was aspired to by Sri Lankan Tamils in the North led by the Tamil Tigers. They were defeated militarily and Obi2canibe was deprived of his desired state. Now he is trying to disrupt articles on Sri Lankan culture in any way he can.
  • Here he found 2 articles that claim that the Sri Lankan anthem was written by Rabindranath Tagore rather than by Ananda Samarakoon who is credited with having written the song by a majority (if not all) scholarly sources especially within the country of Sri Lanka. Why must undue weight be given to the fact that two articles on the internet claim something that is not believed by all mainstream sources? BlueLotusLK (talk) 08:24, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Decision of the Mediation Committee edit

  • Reject. Fails to satisfy prerequisite for mediation #4, "The parties must have first engaged in extensive discussion of the matter in dispute at the article talk page and discussion only through edit summaries will not suffice". While there has been some discussion of this issue, as noted by the filing party, for discussion to satisfy prerequisite #4 it must be ongoing or only recently ended, which this has not. Moreover, while the filing party does not have to be a party to the discussion, there must be parties listed here who were and none such are listed (and, indeed, the two other parties to that discussion have not edited Wikipedia since the end of the discussion in November, 2016). Moreover, even if this had not been rejected under prerequisite #4, it would almost certainly have been rejected under prerequisite #9.
