editLaplacean correction for continuous variables
editDoes an analog of Laplacean correction exist for continuous variables, such as might be used e.g. to bring reviewers' ratings closer to the category average when there is a small number of reviews? NeonMerlin 01:41, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
- Note that the redirect you used goes to a place that does not say anything about the correction you have in mind (which I believe is adding 1 to count when generating frequency estimates -- there are actually numerous things that are called Laplace corrections). I don't see how that would make sense for continuous variables, unless they are discretized into bins, as is done when creating a histogram. Looie496 (talk) 02:20, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
