Fourier analysis

edit

i read it can be used to split a complex waveform into a series of sine waves, for example to get a spectrum of a sound. is this correct? what, if anything else can it be used for? and i would like if known, a link to details on how to do it. thank you, 70.114.248.114 (talk) 01:41, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Try Fourier series. -- 86.23.62.108 (talk) 07:52, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And also the Fourier analysis article itself. -- The Anome (talk) 10:07, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You might also like the pictures and explanations at time domain and frequency domain. In my opinion they are easier to understand than the previous articles. SemanticMantis (talk) 13:41, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
