Ohlone language

There was a village named "Ssatumnumo" in the Ohlone language where Princeton-by-the-Sea is located today. Is this spelling correct? And how is the ss pronounced? Why not use one s instead of two? Viriditas (talk) 09:16, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Browsing the articles on Ohlone languages, I found that "Vowels and consonants are doubled to indicate longer pronunciation" (mentioned in Mutsun language). PiusImpavidus (talk) 11:36, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Apparently. The article Gemination mentions several languages that have lexical word-initial gemination (various Malay dialects, Tuvaluan, Luganda and Wagiman).  --Lambiam 10:06, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
