editCould you help me to find chinese original name for Governar № 5,6,7 in link above?--Kaiyr (talk) 10:12, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't have the names, but I noticed the section title. According to Wiktionary, "Governar" is not an English word. Are you sure you don't want to use "Governor" instead? --Lgriot (talk) 13:59, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- The section of the article is actually Ili_Kazakh_Autonomous_Prefecture#Governors. --ColinFine (talk) 13:57, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Gay slang through the ages
editTrying to track down information on gay slang (both by and about gay men) in the early (pre-WWI) 20th century. Wiki suggests "straight" didn't emerge until the 1940s, and I want to know if there was a word for it back then or if it was just the default assumption (but surely gay men would need a word to indicate to others that somebody wasn't part of the tribe?). I'd also like to know whatever the slightly offensive/community-reclaimed terms of the time would've been, equivalent to something like "queers" today. Dr-ziego (talk) 10:28, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Faggot (slang) traces the term to 1914. Jmar67 (talk) 12:07, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Using female names for gay males was prevalent in the 19th century. See, for example, the slurs leveled at William R. King, the purported lover of U.S. President James Buchanan. --Jayron32 12:12, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- See Polari. --Viennese Waltz 12:17, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- And from Polari, "naff" (BrEng). Alansplodge (talk) 16:53, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

- Nancy and Pansy come to mind. I found this (from the Encyclopedia of Homosexuality), which goes a lot deeper, but I’ve only had time to skim through it. Cheers ✦ hugarheimur 22:22, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- Fairy came to mind, and while researching it, I found that Fairy (gay slang) redirects to a comprehensive list of LGBT terms. Akld guy (talk) 23:54, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
