Japanese name check #2 edit
Is 大野哲煥 'Ono Cholhwan' or 'Cholhwan Ono' ? Thanks GrahamHardy (talk) 01:25, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- His surname is 大野=Ōno and his personal name is 哲煥 or Cholhwan. The article on him should normally be titled Cholhwan Ōno, or, if he drops the macron, then Cholhwan Ono. (If he has persuaded English newspapers, etc., not to put his name backwards, then of course Ōno comes first.) The article currently implies that his surname is "Ono" in Japanese; this is plain wrong (there's one more mora). Incidentally, if you're thinking that "Cholhwan" doesn't look Japanese, you're right, it doesn't. More.coffy (talk) 03:26, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
