Great Gatsby question

After the conflicts in Chapter 7, Nick declines supper at Tom's house. "I'd be damned if I go in; I'd had enough of all of them for one day, and suddenly that included Jordan too." I understand why he had enough of Tom and Daisy, but why include Jordan when she barely participated in the conflicts? --219.75.107.21 (talk) 02:01, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

I have to agree with @Xuxl:. In rereading the passage, it seems like Nick could be quite emotionally worked up from the trauma of the day. He was likely just frustrated with everyone and everything, and wanted to be alone. In fact, a few lines before that, he says exactly that. "I was feeling a little sick and I wanted to be alone." I'm guessing, since Jordan was there for all of that, she happens to get the raw end of the stick since Nick just wants distance from the whole group. He does have a brief conversation with Gatsby, almost as soon as he leaves. That might be due to the nature of their relationship and may speak to the differences of Gatsby and Nick vs. Gatsby and Jordan. Totalart44 (talk) 18:56, 29June 2021 (UTC)
