Help finding a specific Chinese story

edit

I believe that I previously (perhaps several months ago or more) read a real life news story in China about how this one man saved or revived a woman and was then subsequently forced to pay for this woman's hospital bills. Can anyone here actually find this story and/or any story that even remotely resembles this story? Futurist110 (talk) 04:00, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No idea if this is what happened in your story, but I've heard that if you run someone over with your car by accident in China and they die, among other things you have to pay a certain monetary fine. If they don't die, you have to pay their hospital bills, which can be a lot bigger than the fine if they die. So if you do hit someone, there is a perverse incentive to back up and run them over a few extra times to make sure they are dead. Maybe the person you mentioned ran someone over but managed to revive them, and was then stuck with the hospital bill. 2601:648:8202:96B0:54D9:2ABB:1EDB:CEE3 (talk) 05:29, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some discussions of the general issue: [1], [2] -- AnonMoos (talk) 11:47, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this information and especially these two links! The second link here might have been especially close to what I am looking for here. That said, though, if anyone here can find any similar links, by all means, please feel free to share them here. Futurist110 (talk) 21:44, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
