"Wonder Years" setting

back around the time it aired I remember having the distinct impression that it likely was set in the NYC metro area, perhaps Long Island or maybe New Jersey...and Kevin regularly wore a NY Jets jacket (and one wouldn't particularly wear a jacket like this in Los Angeles due to climate)....it's clear the neighborhood used for the opening credits is indeed in the los angeles area (socal mountain in background)...the article doesn't suggest a particular setting...was it kept ambiguous in the show or was it ever referenced...I don't recall a particular reference...68.48.241.158 (talk) 14:22, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Still, many eagle-eyed watchers have combed through the series for clues—like Jack Arnold’s license plate and Wayne’s driver’s license—that place the show in California, where it was filmed.

So it looks like you were basically right - it did have some NY feel, but it was largely filmed in CA, and it was intentionally kept vague for an "anytown, USA" effect. SemanticMantis (talk) 19:13, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Note: I noticed the article does mention some of this early on in the "conception" section....I somehow skimmed over that and missed it...was looking for it more in the 'plot synopsis' section...but it was indeed kept generic it appears, or as generic as possible...the address used for the external shots of the house etc is known and is in the San Fernando Valley...it's obvious too from wide exterior shots that everything is located in LA area...it's just that particular location was never made relevant to the writing of the show on purpose..68.48.241.158 (talk) 16:00, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
