John Romita

Was the John Romita appearing in American Ninja the same as the Spiderman cartoonist ? Yours--Inyan 06:03, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there are two Spider-Man cartoonists named John Romita, but I can't find any info about anyone appearing in an "American Ninja" film. John Romita Sr. was born in 1930, and John Romita Jr. in 1956, so they would be approx. 55 and 29 years old in 1985 when the movie came out. TV space program

There was a made for TV show about a 3 or 4 foot in diameter hole in the ground created by a spacecraft in the back yard (which was full of junk typical of a country red neck's estate). A woman and her brother or boyfriend or step dad found this hole and he left her to guard it while he went to get wench so he could see what was at the bottom. While he was gone she lowered some stuff down on a rope and the creatures at the bottom sent her some other stuff back up. Anyone know the name of this show? Sorry, not Invaders from Mars (1953 film). There was another one where there was a thing inside a cave that sent out bat vampire like flying creatures that left two short antenna poking out of the back of the neck, but that was not it either. TV shows showing someone searching the internet

Can a TV show - show someone SEARCHING THE INTERNET?

That is, can I turn on a TV show that as part of the show, shows someone searching the internet and of course, shows the various sites that person is going to? Lawyers I contacted "are not sure"...as it may violate copyright law..or may not?

I submitted a question but did not sign it.

I wanted to know if it is LEGAL or if there is any research on the subject of:

SHOWING SOMEONE SEARCH THE INTERNET ON A TV SHOW.

That is, can I turn on my TV and watch someone SEARCHING the net and show the sites they go to?

Wow... one question in four competing formats! Anyway, yes -- it's perfectly legal to show the internet on TV. In practice, though, it's rarely done. Computer screens (well, legitimate things on computer screens) read very poorly on TV, so the relevant information is usually conveyed either by (1) a mockup with giant legible text or (2) Matrix-like technical-looking nonsense on-screen while a character talks about what it means. — Lomn 18:36, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It can be that the TV company is forced to remove the logos, though: for example, the music video "White & Nerdy" features "Weird Al" Yankovic vandalising the Atlantic Records Wikipedia article with the phrase "YOU SUCK!". However, for legal reasons, the Wikipedia logo was stripped from the TV version of the video. The video also demonstrates Lomn's first point (as the type face used by Wikipedia is way too small to appear properly on a TV screen, they used a massive version of Impact (image from internet version)). Some companies actually provide fictional websites which can be used without being considered copyright infringement or product placement (in a country like the UK, this would arguably be a bigger obstacle to getting your show aired): for example, when Rose searched the web for information about the Doctor in Rose, she used "search-wise.net", a fictional search engine created solely for this sort of purpose.
