Wikipedia:Peer review/Van Halen/archive1

Van Halen- Archived March 2006

edit

Primarily I think this page needs improvement on:

  • Citations/Reference Material
  • Sub-articles
  • Tightening up the flow of the article

While that work is getting done I think it would be helpful to start the peer review process and get feedback from other Wikipedia experts. --Chevan 04:09, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

It needs a lead section, as well. Overall, it looks pretty good though. Tuf-Kat 07:30, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. I'll put that on the to-do list. --Chevan 11:37, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
Good article. Check out Iron Maiden (band) and Dream Theater both of which are Featured. Overall great but its long and could imo do with a footer template. --PopUpPirate 23:07, August 30, 2005 (UTC)
I've added in the lead-in section and a footer template. I'm going to see if I can pare down the copy some, I agree the article is getting a bit on the long side. Thanks for your comments. --Chevan 15:13, August 31, 2005 (UTC)
More comments: the opening pic is way too wide. Need a cite for the sentence in the lead about Van Halen being acclaimed, and in general, some specific critic reactions to all their recordings. The "band members" section doesn't seem very useful, and probably won't make it past FAC. The "highlights" under "(2000-2004) Four years of silence" shouldn't be bulleted, and the Letterman paragraph seems kind of pointless. Need a complete discography of albums and singles at Van Halen discography, with just a simple list of albums and singles with their release dates here (no need for separate section for e.g. Roth, Hagar). Also, what's labelled "references" here ought to be "Notes", with the subsequent lists of sources as "References" in a section above "Notes". The article also needs some sound clips. Tuf-Kat 00:00, August 31, 2005 (UTC)
I shrank that opening picture, it was too big. I've cited their record sales, popularity and grammy nominations... I hope that covers the "acclaimed part"... it was supposed to be an authoritative assertion rather than POV. I looked at both the Iron Maiden (band) and Dream Theater articles and they both have band member sections, so I hope that is -ok-. I'm going to try and incorporate the Letterman paragraph into the "influence" section. Any idea where to get sound clips? Thanks for your input. --Chevan 15:13, August 31, 2005 (UTC)
