What the drone saw

The WikNYC Picnic, the "picnic anyone can edit", was held in Central Park on Sunday July 10, 2016, as part of the Great American Wiknic celebrations being held across the USA.

The picnicking area is the southwest section of the Great Lawn, north of the Delacorte Theater, just inside the park at Central Park West between 81st & 82nd. Enter the park at West 81st St. (Central Park map focused on Delacorte Theater - the picnic is on the grass north of this structure)

The picnic lasted from 3 PM to 8 PM.

Nearest subway station is 81st Street – Museum of Natural History (IND Eighth Avenue Line). Take the C train (no other trains on a weekend day) and exit at the north (81st Street) staircase. Cross Central Park West and enter the park. Walk the footpath, taking the right at the fork. Cross the bridle path and road, and climb past the Delacorte Theater and Romeo & Juliet statue. You ought to see our banner on your left when you get to the bigger footpath around the Great Lawn.

You can also use the 79th Street (IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line) station though the walk is five times as long. Walk to 81st Street, turn right, pass the IND station and follow the instructions from there.

You can also enter from the East Side at East 79th Street. This is long and complex. Ask directions to the Delacorte Theater. See us on your right after you pass the castle and Turtle Pond on your left and the Great Lawn on your right, and before you get to the theater.
