Conclusory

Wikipedia seems to allow conclusory statements. Like someone is a “conspiracy theorist”.

Instead of labeling someone, simply prevent the facts and allow people to make their own determination.

With regard to any labels. 2600:8801:F000:5C0:0:0:0:3148 (talk) 00:23, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia reflects what is said in reliable sources about a subject. If the consensus among reliable sources is that someone is a conspiracy theorist, then that's what gets written; to purposefully exclude such a label even though it is widely used in reliable sources would be editorialising on our part, and that's something we try to avoid.

User:TyphoonAmpil/Lanterns.css

Hello can change the content model, CSS to Sanitized CSS? †TyphoonAmpil† (💬 - 📝 - 🌀 - Tools) 05:20, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

@TyphoonAmpil: It can only be changed by interface administrators. You can use {{Edit interface-protected}} on the talk page. If you create a .css page as a subpage in the template namespace then it automatically gets Sanitized CSS and keeps it if you move it to your userspace. Redirect

recently OCDD created a redirect Chirag Sen to India national badminton team. Is it a valid redirect? Because this individual is not even notable, and creating a redirect page for it seems unnecessary. zoglophie•talk• 11:32, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

A redirect does no harm, and he may be notable. I'm not all that familiar with badminton, but he's ranked in the top 100 in the world in singles. Clarityfiend (talk) 13:14, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Non-free fair use of deceased people

Would images of specific groups where one or more members had died be eligible for the non-free fair use rationale? Alternatively, would this only apply if all of the subjects had died? GeorgeMemulous (talk) 11:40, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

GeorgeMemulous they could be eligible, see WP:NFC#UUI and the infobox at Monty Python. You would probably get a better answer to this kind of question at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. TSventon (talk) 11:55, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Referencing isuue

Hi,

This is Yahya.from.pakistan451. I am struggling with different articles and found a large amount of reliable sources but I cant place them effectively. They are openly available. For e.g. I am writing article Chapati Hindustani Gamer (Draft:Chapati Hindustani Gamer, as is a draft still) where i added a lot of references with about 5 to 6 external sources. However my article is rejected 4 times that not enough references to support the topic. At least after my last edit on that article, I think that rejection is unfair. I am not going to submit it again until i get a response. I am also going to write an article on Pakistani music band "AUR" but im worried that even after a lot of work, it may also get rejected. Please consider my problem.

Thanks Yahya.from.pakistan451 (talk) 11:55, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

@Yahya.from.pakistan451: The terminology Wikipedia uses here for not accepting your draft is declined; rejected would mean "stop editing as any further attempts would be a waste of time". You have been told to not use wikis as they do not demonstrate the subject's wikinotability due to being troves of user-generated content, and the subject's YouTube channel also would not demonstrate wikinotability due to its lack of independence from said subject. Not to mention the formatting is too much and goes against Wikipedia's manual of style, as well as the inappropriate addition of external links in the body of the draft. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 12:47, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
@Yahya.from.pakistan451 You uploaded a photo of the Gamer to Commons, stating that it was your own work. Did you take that photo with your own camera? It is present on many webpages elsewhere, including this one. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:26, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Hello, Yahya. As a rough guide: make sure that every one of the sources that you propose to use to establish notability meets all three parts of the criteria in WP:42. If they do not meet all three parts, then they are useless for notability (and hence for getting a draft accepted). ColinFine (talk) 15:22, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Correcting a serious error.

There is a clear set of errors on this page: Sada Yacco

I have posted on the Talk page for that entry as follows:

"The details of the first tour make no sense. It is stated that they arrived back in Japan on 1 Jan 1901 and yet the dates for appearances at Loie Fuller Theatre in Paris are "July 4, 1900, to June 16, 1901; June 16 to November 3, 1901" and the two appearances in Belgium noted in this section were in November 1901. There is clearly an error here, but not knowing the actual correct dates I'm unable to edit it. "

I'm not confident that anyone will pick up on this and correct the error. Can an administrator maybe take over and sort out the issue?

Thanks, Simon Stagememories (talk) 14:13, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

I agree that the dates don't make any sense. If you have an idea on how it would be corrected feel free to do so. Most of that article is sourced to a single book, which if anyone were in possession of it would make it trivial to correct. The page is not protected so anyone including you can edit it. Reconrabbit 14:43, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
@Stagememories I think that User:Ineffablebookkeeper is an active editor likely to have that source and be able to sort this out. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:55, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
This isn't actually a source I have, strangely enough, although I may know some people who do have it. I'll see if they can verify the dates. —Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) ({{ping}} me!) 15:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Note that this kind of thing is not part of the job of administrators. any editor can contribute, whether they are an admin or not. ColinFine (talk) 15:25, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

How to create a new page in Wikipedia?

Please guide me তিলোত্তমা রায় (talk) 18:25, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

@তিলোত্তমা রায়: You're probably looking for Help:Your first article. jlwoodwa (talk) 18:34, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Since this is a brand new account with only one edit, it is probably best not to be creating new articles, as experience is needed to do this. And please make sure that the proposed new article is not about yourself, your employer etc.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:48, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
