Just one last thing before I close this request... is there any chance the positions of the roses on "Design A" could be altered, so that the middle rose is at the exact centre of the cross (it appears to be slightly upper-left of centre on the current version of the file), and that the length of distance between all three roses remains the same? Near-Earth asteroid orbital classes

I request a new SVG diagram showing examples for the four orbital classes of near-Earth asteroids, because the existing images are all very problematic, and both their original creators and previous editors who worked on them are gone (and I lack SVG skills):
  • The first image is cluttered with over-lapping orbits, lacks an Atira orbit, and the thin lines on black background have poor visibility.
  • The other diagrams seem to show the distribution of several of these objects, but there is no source for actual scientific data and the distributions are wrong for all four of them (I can go into detail if you're interested), in fact for Apollos and Amors they give the wrong impression.
  • Two of the "general location" diagrams also have unnecessary elements in them (Martian Trojans).

My idea is to replace these five with a single diagram, one showing example orbits for all classes like the first, but uncluttered and with the visuals of the other four. I would propose the following:

  1. The Aten diagram is a good start (it has a light background and shows the orbits of the four inner planets to scale, and has Earth's orbit emphasized). Remove the dots & letters, and replace the green stuff with its outline (the outer ellipse): that would be a good Aten example orbit.
  2. For the Atiras, using another colour, add another ellipse so that it is halfway between the Aten example orbit & Venus's orbit on the top left and close to Earth's orbit from the inside on the bottom right.
  3. For the Apollos, using yet another colour, add another ellipse in a way that it cuts a bit into Earth's orbit on the top left and is outside the Aten example orbit at bottom right.
  4. For the Amors, using yet another colour, add another ellipse that contains the entirety of both Earth's orbit and the Apollo example orbit, but comes close to Earth's orbit on the top left. (If there is space, or it's not too much trouble to increase the image's edges a bit, it's best if it even crosses Mars's orbit.)
  5. Add a legend or mark the orbits in some other way.

I hope this would not be too much work & can be made to look not too cluttered & comprehensible even at 200px wide. But I am of course open to suggestions as to how the goal of providing comprehensible illustrations can be done differently. Or to questions if you're not familiar enough with the subject and/or I wasn't clear enough.

@Sriveenkat: Many thanks for creating those files, great work! Though there's just a few modifications I'd like to ask for before closing this request, specifically for "A" and "D".

So, regarding the changes for "Design A":

1) I'd ask that the right-side apple be moved more to the right, so that it's the same distance from the right end of the flag as the left-side apple already is from the left end of the flag.

2) I'd also ask that the bull's head be enlarged, so that it's the exact same size as the bull's head from the link.

3) Also, I'd ask that the squiggly line on the bull's forehead be removed completely.

4) Regarding the squiggly line below the bull's eyes, I'd ask that the diagonal lines running down from it along the snout be modified to match how they look in the link (considerably shorter and positioned slightly differently).

And regarding the alterations for "Design D":

1) I'd ask for the same changes to the diagonal lines on the snout that I requested for "Design A".

2) Also, the curved lines branching diagonally upwards from the bull's eyes are shorter on this one than they are on "A" and "C".

I've still to do the top left to do and to clean into English. I'll do it tommorrow afternoon. @Scope creep We have also had bad weather here in south of Sweden for two months now, tiring.
  • Now when I have put in the measurements I see that the source file is not accurate regarding scale and it's not really sharp either. I have followed the source when doing the svg so it's not accurate regarding scale either. E.a. 4 m is not the same size every where but the measurements are correct.
  • The map is quite complex with a lot of information so it's very hard to make it easy and comfortable to view. So I suggest that we upload four different versions like the drafts I show here. Then anyone can choose which version is best for there needs.

  • Comment Hi @Goran tek-en: I reviewed the four diagrams. Thought I'd found some missing components but saw they were present the next version of the diagram, so altered my comments as I went along. Have the following comments:
"Drawing". Its looks great, I mean really great. I see its built in sections. I never realised that. I see the measurements are in metres.
"Measurements" Since it is metres, can you change the comma to a dot in the measurements. I think the comma is older nomenclature, which i've seen in various but not in modern context. The arrows are quite big on the measurements, although it might be a function of size of the SVG.
"Texts" I see the original drawing has the a. b. c. placements, to place the descriptions outside the box, which is fine. Didn't notice it. I see the diagram has the distance descriptions outside the building.
"All" So only two actions.
  • Change the comma's to dots for metre measurements.
  • Possibly make the arrows on the distance measurements slightly smaller to reduce the impact slightly. They look a bit rough. It is arbitary, it may be a function of the SVG, they way they look, and I don't want give you extra work. The diagram is perfect. In this book, which is older than the sources of the page I linked to, the flag has this shape, but I considered it a printing mistake because I had no other sources.   Done. I've taken the liberty of doing the Naval Ensign and Presidential Standards too (might as well). Aspect ratio is 4:3 as in the book. Please note that I've followed not only the reference images (which have some technical limitations to say the least) but also the extensive descriptions given by the author, following the text and not the images when they conflicted, which included deliberately breaking the rule of tincture in some cases. I'm trying to recreate a logo from an image I found of an old railway company called SNCFA. The logo features Arabic typography. I attempted it myself, but I wasn't quite satisfied with the result. @Clayoquot:   Done. Instead of vectorizing the blog image, I've recreated the chart from the raw data. I've used Brewer colors for clarity; let me know if you've like the exact original color scheme used instead. I've also made it text-free so it can be used in other Wikis without the need for translation of the SVG itself; you can use the {{legend}} template as I've done here.
