Locations required (cities/regions):

  • London

Possible messages:

  • A Wikipedia meetup is planned in London, on Sunday 11th April from 13:00 onwards. All are welcome.

Date range required:

The next one of these meetups is meta:Meetup/London/33 on 9 May, and they happen every month. Perhaps we should try to regularly schedule these so that they appear on the first of the month and run until the meetups? Given that the meetups should appeal to people across the UK (e.g. I'm based in Manchester and go along when able to), I suggest location coverage across the UK. Suggested code would be:
LondonWikinotice:
 { begin: '1 May 2010 00:00 UTC',
   corners: [ [60,-9], [49,2] ],
text: 'You are invited to the 33rd <a href="http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetup/London/33" title="Meetup/London/33">London Wikimedia meetup</a> on Sunday 9 May 2010 from 13.00 onwards in Pendrel's Oak, Holborn.'
 },

Seeing as no-one commented, I've scheduled the June one to start from the 1st June. Mike Peel (talk) 08:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With only six days to go until our annual convention/meetup, hopefully we can get this geonotice posted. Thanks! --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:19, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oddly, I don't see the geonotice. --Sky Harbor (talk) 17:54, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that the message was unusually long, and so I've tried shortened it. Has this fixed things?--Pharos (talk) 23:12, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Shortening I don't mind, but not seeing it at all is a different matter altogether. ;) --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:23, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I tried shortening it a bit more, and reducing it to one link, to see if that might help. I really don't understand what's wrong; let me know if this thing works.--Pharos (talk) 13:55, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect it's due to the lat/long range. I've enlarged the geographical coverage to cover more of the Phillipines - does that help? If not, please could you visit somewhere like http://www.geoiptool.com/ and let us know what longitude and latitude your IP address has? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 07:59, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, it still does not show. The geographical location though for my IP address (120.28.181.196) is 14°35′0.96″N 121°2′0.96″E / 14.5836000°N 121.0336000°E / 14.5836000; 121.0336000. I see it already. Thanks guys. :D --Sky Harbor (talk) 15:12, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reason for requesting "New Zealand" as region:
    • Very few ISPs in NZ now allocate IPs by region.
    • The inclusion of whole of NZ also gives us an opportunity to bring awareness of New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board and encourage more NZers to participate in NZ related Wiki projects.
    • Previous Auckland Meetup request landed at as many non aucklanders as they did aucklanders. This is possibly due to 1st reason given (Not many ISPs allocate IPs by region) and possibly because many ISPs headquarters is in Auckland. If you want more on the intricacies of IP allocation within NZ, feel free to ask. I can try to explain.

The current formatting looks ugly - can someone at least fix the line spacing (the top line and bottom line are overlapping slightly)? I think having the 2nd line left-aligned or centred would be better than right-aligned too. Thanks! --Tango (talk) 09:35, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For us that are not in Britain: I see that Seddon added this geonotice to MediaWiki:Geonotice.js on 31 January, and other users have then tweaked the spacing. So it should be alive and well for the British audience.
