Characters of Smallville
editI am nominating these articles because I feel that they meet the criteria. As of today, the Justice League article is in its GA nomination and I am waiting on final approval of some changes to see if it passes. Based on the comments, it appears that it should pass before its 7 days is up (It passed today). As such, that would make all of the topics under this subject header "GA" quality. - Question I would like a clarification: why are only two episodes of the first season notable enough to deserve separate articles, but the show itself is notable enough to warrant seven distinct articles on their characters? Nergaal (talk) 17:54, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Answer - Because you're talking about one season as opposed to articles that cover characters over the course of 10 seasons. There's a lot more information for those characters over multiple season than any one season typically has for any one episode. It's all about the amount of info available and since most episodes are not getting significant coverage from third party sources (as opposed to a character who has multiple season to accumulate that coverage) they end up not being split off. Few episodes are gettin serious coverage mainly because the show is on The CW and not a major network like ABC or CBS. "Absolute Justice" is probably the most recent episode which has received any type of significant coverage from third party sources in the past few years. That said, how does the FT status of the season one affect this particular topic? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 21:00, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- After a little snooping around I found that they discussed this here. This makes some sense for the early seasons but newer episodes should have several reviews available on the web so having only three articles for the entire series is a shame for fans of the show (I've never seen it myself). IGN has reviews for all the recent episodes for instance:[1][2]Quadzilla99 (talk) 23:47, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- A review from IGN or TV Squad isn't enough to warrant a separate page, especially when there is little production info on individual episodes being released now that they are no longer making the companion books. But again, this topic is about the characters. The notability of individual episodes is neither here nor there. Do you have thoughts on these particular articles? - I know this topic is not relevant. But still a short synopsis, a cast section (imdb), and a large size critical reception section from the reviews when an episode appears (which are numerous: including reviews from MTV, Entertainment News, and other major media outlets in addition to IGN) is enough for a decent sized article. Not every article on a city has all the sections mentioned here that doesn't mean they should get deleted. Quadzilla99 (talk) 03:17, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not all reviews, some simple plot recaps and articles on real life settles are not the same as articles on fictional topics - especially since fiction related works tend to have a lot of non-free content. That said, I repeat, "thoughts on this topic and its articles"? It seems that so far this Good Topic nomination has only been for for generating all discussions about whether there should be individual episodes for the seasons of the show and not about whether this topic warrants the GT status. Sadly, I don't recall other GT nominations generating more discussion about unrelated topics than this currently has. It's almost an insult to this process. Pardon me for saying.
