This seems to me to be an exxellent idea! People will be able to read and understand articles more easily, and they will seem more credible if puntuation is not a problem.Andrew the science guy 01:44, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- 10 per min is a bit fast, most bots are capped at 6/min. — xaosflux Talk 04:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- How will this list of target articles be selected? — xaosflux Talk 04:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- What type of dictionary will be utilized, does it account for (sic) quutations and regional spellings? — xaosflux Talk 04:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- He/she is using AWB, and AWB uses Wikipedia:RETF for typos when manually assisted. —METS501 (talk) 21:17, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes per above, list selection done using search term for misspelled target word. Additionally, quotations and regional spellings are a contextual issue, this bot is supervised. I will attempt to keep my edits below 6epm, I work rather quickly, so if possible, 10epm would be optimal. Navou banter / contribs 23:12, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I trust that color/colour etc. will not be corrected per the ArbCom ruling regarding MOS, and the provision that the spelling a) depends on the article subject and/or b) depends on the first author? Daniel.Bryant 09:16, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see no problems with the typo fixing, but how will it correct spaces around commas or periods? Beware of numbers like 3,120,125.21 or something similar. —METS501 (talk) 14:03, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The search target in that case would be period then any letter, or comma then any letter. Depending on context, it may be corrected. Navou banter / contribs 00:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- What about things like website addresses, though? How would it handle "http://en.wikipedia.org" I would steer clear of the spaces around periods and commas.
- Is the bot approved for run? Navou banter / contribs 00:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. But only for tasks 1 (typo fixing) and 4 (Fixing broken URLs). Make 50 or so edits and report back with diffs. I will add you to the AWB approved users list, and you will be moved to the bots list when this task is fully approved. —METS501 (talk) 04:44, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. Typo fixing only for now, and if you want the other tasks just file a new request. You can stay on the AWB users list, not bots list, as typo fixing requires manual approval. This bot can run with a flag. —METS501 (talk) 01:21, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
