Function overview: Requesting a renewal of the approval given to User:FlagBot back in 2008, which lapsed in 2015 during an extended time away from Wikipedia.
It's an article assessment bot.
Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Lot of manual supervision of the choice of assessment, then a curated list is sent to AWB to process automatically
Programming language(s): PHP grabs various parameters via the API (which is a change, the 2008 was scraped off HTML but the output is the same) and dumps them into a spreadsheet, which does a few calculations and then I review manually, before taking lists off the spreadsheet to feed AWB.
Source code available: AWB
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Previously approved at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/FlagBot, but lapsed whilst I was away
Edit period(s): One-time run, as and when I have time
Estimated number of pages affected: 200-20,000 pages per project, but the amount of manual intervention means I won't be tackling more than one of the big Wikiprojects per week
Namespace(s): Talk pages of the namespaces assessed by a Wikiproject
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: As per previous approval, with some inconsequential changes under the hood, like extracting data via the API rather than scraping. Something new I'm extracting is the mw:ORES ratings, but at present I'm just using ORES to help guide my "manual" oversight, it's not incorporated into any of the "automatic" assessment. I agree with ORES maybe 80% of the time so it is useful but not something to follow blindly.
User:FlagBot's AWB approval has lapsed so would need reviving but my personal AWB approval has been revived after my Wikibreak. If you want examples, I've done a few thousand pseudo-FlagBot edits with AWB on my personal account in the last few weeks, my AWB settings seem to be working robustly with the current state of Wikiproject banners.

edit Speedily Approved. Since this is the same task, which was only stopped due to inactivity, I see no issue with restarting it. If there are issues, WP:BOTN is the place to post (after, of course, you discuss with the botop). Primefac (talk) 18:04, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
