Discussion
edit- {{BAG assistance needed}} Flagging this right away as the trial needs to start ASAP to get this thing starting to report some names as this was requested a while ago. -- DQ (t) (e) 19:24, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Please note the following different from SoxBot:
- The Wait until edits is not yet programmed in, instead a message is outputed
- All entries that do not directly match the Blacklist are subject to the similar charecters search
- All entries are read as regex, but in a safe way (as in could be anything around it)
- {{note}} will be fixed on next upload to SVN.
- Thanks. -- DQ (t) (e) 19:24, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Where does it report doubtful names?
- Does the wording of the report include what you have sensibly said here, that regex can be wrong?
- Why wait until they edit?
- Does it do anything else than report?Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:27, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Well as SoxBot had it:
- Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention/Bot
- The regex is only a way to try and check, quite a few entries were already regex flaged, but the operation should still be the same as if regex wasn't run (please also understand I am bridging between PHP and Python here). It's like walking your dog around the block one way or the other way.
- Why wait until they edit, because that is how admins have asked for it. And also it just makes sense to see if a username is editing promotionally before you report/block them. (See the username policy for more info).
- Uhh...in this task? No. As a bot, yes, I have other already approved tasks. Please see User:DeltaQuadBot for more information on what is already happening with the bot.
- For more informtaion on the old SoxBot UAA task, please see the userpage, the the BRFA, and the old code. -- DQ (t) (e) 02:48, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial (7 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Good for a test. - Kingpin13 (talk) 02:53, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I released the bot this morning to edit unsupervised on TS. Few minor template errors, but other than that it's running as it should/was asked to. DQ.alt (t) (e) 16:06, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- This is lovely. I started a non-IRC version because it kept crashing...edited on linux and now it's gone. Will be rebuilding that for now and compensating for the wait till edit. -- DQ (t) (e) 02:10, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Still in the debugging state at this point. It was blocked for errors today. I will be looking into the exact cause for this. There was extended downtime last week due to toolserver issues. DQ.alt (t) (e) 16:09, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Trial complete. I'm done debugging one minor issue and a ready to go block button on the history so it's friendlier for watchlists. And I think I have overstayed my welcome on the trial. I will let it keep editing though. -- DQ (t) (e) 20:44, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm currently reviewing this, first thing to note is that the bot should remove blocked users from User:DeltaQuad/UAA/Wait - I doubt they're gonna be editing any time soon ;), so checking for edits from them is a waste of resources. - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. I have spoken to DeltaQuad about this, just to record on-wiki: The bot will now remove blocked users and will also not in the report if the bot waited for the user to edit. - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:23, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
