Function Details: Here's the outline of the logic the bot will use:

Get the transclusions of {{bot}} and get the first page
If the bot in question has edited in the last 6 months (182 days), add or update the status parameter to 'active'
If the bot has not edited in the last 6 months, or has no edits at all, add or update the status parameter to inactive

Discussion

Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. This has been in consultation on WP:BON for approx. a fortnight now, and no-one has raised any conerns. - Jarry1250 ^{(t, c)} 12:21, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Trial complete. Only one real bug, now fixed (my regexen were slightly broken, but it only showed up when editing a page that had already been processed; I may have gone over the 50 slightly due to fixing that bug, sorry!). Richard ⁰⁶¹² 13:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  - I've also added in a line which will strip Category:Wikipedia bots and any manually-added status categories from any bot userpages it encounters. As {{bot}} automatically categorises bots into the new category, Category:Wikipedia bots by name, the old one may as well be deprecated while we're running through, and manually added status cats will duplicate those added by the template (thanks to Jarry1250 for the idea).
