Wikipedia:Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive/2011
Nominator's rationale: The scientific community at Wikipedia needs a severe overhaul, starting with the increasing need for standardization in notation. Both a simplified and scientific notation system needs to be developed to encourage users and researchers to contribute more qualitative scientific articles. As a general note, Wikipedia should man up all of its articles to accommodate its own measurement system; namely the Wikipedia Standard system (i.e.- WiS prefix on all Wikipedia-based astronomical and scientific notation); complete with footnotes, data tables and simplified article version options. - Comment: Huh? This is WP:ACID and proposing a new notation standard has nothing to do with improving the light-year article. You need to propose something like that at the Village Pump or the Manual of Style. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 08:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Nominator's rationale: This article has been flagged as problematic in multiple ways for several years, and is a fairly major topic (pachinko is actually a larger industry, in Japan alone, than all casino gambling in the world, combined). It's really a half-baked article. It had massive amounts of original research. I've tried to remove most of that. But the majority of the article, based on the ja.wiki version, is unsourced. I've taken the unusual and in-your-face tactic (no, it not a WP:POINT, though unorthodox) of tagging it rather severely everywhere it has sourcing problems, which is a lot of tagging. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 08:56, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
- P.S.: I've declared it a four-project Collaboration of the Month for December 2011, in hopes of getting some editorial attention on it. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 08:57, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
