editThe station has two opposed side platforms, connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station is staffed. Akita Shinkansen trains run through this station, using the tracks adjacent to Platform 1.

History
editWada Station opened on October 1, 1903 as a station on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR).[1] The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.[1] A new station building was completed in February 2003.[citation needed]
