Shonen ai edit

TigressofIndia (talk) 01:12, 14 January 2008 (UTC) Excuse me, but what exactly do you think you're doing, tagging a few dozen anime/manga series at the same time with these categories? Granted I have only read perhaps 1/5 of the series, but the vast majority of them do not fit at all. Please provide evidence, or undo the taggings. Zyrxil (talk) 23:39, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The series that were tagged in this category were previously listed on the page "Shonen ai". Many people have expressed upset at losing the links. I was putting the links in the category of "Shonen ai as a minor theme" because that's how they were previously listed at that page. TigressofIndia (talk) 01:12, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's great from a functional point of view, but again I have to point out that the vast majority of the series tagged absolutely do not have Shounen/Shoujo Ai as a minor theme. I'm not familiar with the discussion regarding the Shonen Ai article, but there needs to be a criteria for tagging, more selective than the series simply having main characters that are the same gender. Zyrxil (talk) 01:21, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I apologize. I didn't create the list, I was just copying from what I presumed was a valid reference previously posted on Shonen Ai, now found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sh%C5%8Dnen-ai&diff=166694705&oldid=166685396. I didn't mean to cause any problems. TigressofIndia (talk) 01:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hunter x Hunter Volume 02.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hunter x Hunter Volume 02.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

A little request edit

Hello, I have a little request. I have been working in Himura Kenshin and I found this [1] and [2]. I noted you know japanese. Could you tell me what does image 1 says and what image 2 too? Thanks. Sorry for bothering.Tintor2 14:15, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what exactly you're looking for, my knowledge of Japanese is very basic, but as far as I can tell they are notes on character design, why the author made the scar, hair, face, etc., how he did. You really need some more than Ja-1 to give you any kind of meaningful translation, sorry. -Zyrxil (talk) 18:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

HunterxHunter edit

Hi there! I noticed you removed the ambiguity of the gender of Pitou. No doubt we're both HxH fans, so I guess we can reason with eachother (though fanatical fans are often the worst ;-)). First of all, I agree that the official guidebook (as accepted by Togashi) should be taken as the ultimate reference as to gender-determination (otherwise, people could debate endlessly about it, given the mangakas' tendency to use bishounen characters). That said, I've searched my ass off to find the actual reference in the actual official guidebook where it says Pitou is male. I mean, I saw a lot of chat and what not of people who say it's in there, but I can't find the original source.

If you could point me towards an url or something where that part of the official guidebook is clear about Pitous' gender, I would be much obliged. If not, would you mind if I put "citation needed" on there?

Also, I think the remaining line about Pitous' gender is somewhat misleading. I mean, yes, (s)he's feminin looking, but the point of the addition was, that the doubt about its gender wasn't purely based on looks anymore, but rather the gender-indications used by Killua when he refers to Pitou (could be mistranslated, ofcourse, but still), and also comparing Pitou with a mother (chapter 274) instead of a father. I mean, it still could be that (s)he is male, but now, it just sounds like people are misled solely by the looks of Pitou. However, I had no problem seeing Pitou as a male (well, once I was told he was), but I did think the arguments of the translator (see the link that was given) made sense. So it wasn't a stupid 'oh, she looks feminin, she must be female'-thing). —Preceding unsigned comment added by MangaMage (talkcontribs) 19:55, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not the one who removed the ambiguity, I just cleaned the language up. I assumed the other guy did get it from the guide, though if it's not there, then go ahead and change it back. As for the feminine line, that should definitely be there, ambiguity or not, as that's the only reason why anyone would think Pitou is female, other than the mother line in the latest chapter. There's been 6 volumes in between Pitou's first appearance and that line, after all. -Zyrxil (talk) 00:01, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

List of major Hunter × Hunter characters edit

Is there a reason that you have deleted most of the page content? erc talk/contribs 05:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re-reorganization. All the content is on group pages now, eg. Greed Island, Hunters Association. -Zyrxil (talk) 05:09, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Roger that. Next time, please use an edit summary stating so, or else you might end up confusing people--like me! :D Anyway, thanks for replying. erc talk/contribs 05:11, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I know there's "That" field there, but my style of editing, aka the same way I post on web forums, is a post, then three dozen small edits, so I usually forget, or am lazy :) -Zyrxil (talk) 05:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

ISBN hyphenation edit

ISBN-13 numbers consist of five parts.

  1. EAN code: For now, this will always be 978.
  2. Region code: A number of variable length, indicating either a language (0 and 1 for English) or a country (4 for Japan). These range in length from one to five numbers.
  3. Publisher code: Another variable length number; these will be from one to seven numbers long, depending on the region.
  4. Book code: The rest of the ISBN, excluding the last number, which is...
  5. Check digit: A number generated algorithmically to ensure that any given ISBN is valid.

A reference list of region codes and valid publisher code ranges is available from the International ISBN Agency (which requires Javascript, as the numbers are pulled from a JS file); an online conversion tool (for ISBN-10 to ISBN-13) is available from isbn.org, and will insert the correct hyphenation automatically. HunterxHunter Template edit

Sorry, wasn't aware I was changing it to non-format. My mistake. However, I disagree that Hisoka and Kuroro are listed as main characters. Hisoka is debatable as he has played a role throughout the story. Kuroro however is nothing more than an arc villian and should be included. That was all I was trying to edit, not the format. Ditch88 (talk) 08:39, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, disagree or not, Hisoka and Kuroro have their own lengthy pages, as opposed to being an entry on a list/group page. That's why they get an entry on the navbox -Zyrxil (talk) 16:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
What does them having their own pages have to do with it. That has no bearing on them being or not being main characters! I could just as easily whip up a full page for say Bisuke, that doesn't mean she should be placed under main characters on the navbox! Ditch88 (talk) 19:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because that's what a navbox is for, a big box of all the wiki pages for the series. If you want, you could start a Bisuke page, but then people would call for a re-merge back into the list page. Someone, who knows who, started the Hisoka and Kuroro Lucifer pages, as they are the two most reoccurring antagonists, and people agreed enough to leave them alone as separate pages. If you just have a problem with them being call "Main Characters", then just make another line in the navbox and label them something else. In any case, they have their own pages, and must be in the navbox somewhere. -Zyrxil (talk) 19:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have no problem with them being in the navbox, just in the main character section. However since every time I try editing the navbox it changes the format how would I do so. (talk) April 16 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.121.250.173 (talk)

Regarding furigana and romanization edit

Regarding this edit: yes, ミサイルマン is used to tell readers how to read 卵男, but it's not part of the title itself. We also tell readers how to read 卵男, except we use Hepburn and not kana. Including both is redundant, and I see no reason to keep the kana around when English speakers will get more use out of the romanization. —tan³ tx 20:40, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is part of the title; the title comes from a character's ability name, and Togashi makes both the kanji and not-really-furigana indicating the English pronunciation separate and equal parts of the ability name. In any case, added the pronunciation of the kanji too. -Zyrxil (talk) 02:54, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Planescape companions.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Planescape companions.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hunter x Hunter edit

Your comments are based on if everything is kept the way it is; it will not be as much of it is trivial material which wikipedia does not keep. I know this because I've read a lot of those descriptions. However, first the items should be merged together so its easier to fix as they are all in one place. This has been discussed in WT:Anime and there is no reason for it; WP:SIZE does not apply to list articles.Jinnai 16:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Nen (fiction) edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Nen (fiction). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nen (fiction). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you.

Proposed deletion of File:HxH Alphabet.png edit

The file File:HxH Alphabet.png has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the file should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
