Hmmmyeahbut edit

Hey it would be worth checking - on creating new categories - to go to the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Perth and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Western Australia to run past the awake editors (theres not that many) - just as a check on that sort of change - no offence - but with the two projects _ there are specific issues that come from a change like that. Although they might seem quiet at times - there are a group of admins and eds who really are the top notch in the overall australia project - and their length of experience also is well worth running things past them. I presonally would have objected to the change - as its conflating boundaries between two projects - but would rather see it go to the others - if you can understand how things happen. Sorry I didnt pick it up earlier and ran throught this with you. As it is there are no specific rules or policies - but the checking with others in the two projects can help. cheers SatuSuro 09:48, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yup its a mess - I am going to try a long email - but if my 16 year old rings I'll have to drop all to be dads taxi - no sensibilities touched - I have for the last 6 months said to others - at meetups and all - that at the WA and Perth articles sections on music - that we should put in no wiki a message - so you are about to do an article on a group that hasnt even played at a venue yet - please wait till later.... :) - there a large number of issues - if my promised email dosnt get o you in the next half hour - probably late tonight - sorry for the inconvenience SatuSuro 09:55, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

email sent - and your motivation for signing up - excellent - any help needed dont hesitate to any of the active eds or the prpoject notice/talk pages - remember the issues of sources [1] you would be very suprised what you can find there - but as i say go for it and welcome!SatuSuro 10:09, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
In view of what you are doing I would recommend spending a bit of time on edit summaries is well worth the effort - to keep tabs of what is happening because at this rate you will have done quite a bit, and there is a need to keep tabs on the changes - in some cases even worth a comment or two on talk pages of some arts is worth the effort - but please run pass the major changes at the project talk pages if possible - thanks SatuSuro 10:15, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
The other thing - in your increasingly thorough search of the obscure and wonderful they come up with red talk/discussion tags - if you want to be really helpful -

WP Australia|WA=yes (or Perth=yes) inside double brackets, or simply WA=yes after a | is very helpful - where possible of course! SatuSuro 10:22, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge - best way to meet Hesperian, Gnangarra, Orderinchaos or Moondyne - probably cite which article and a good way to meet up with the admins - try one - as unfortunately the teenager needs more dads taxi stuff/:( SatuSuro 11:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Delayed - other issues - which one did you want to do and why?SatuSuro 11:20, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Western Mail was very oriented toward Perth - hmmm.... I can see we are going to have fun - the planet article has no reliable third party sources and my usual ref point has nothing on it - unless someone comes up with somethng from an old copy of x press or something its a gonner .. and so on SatuSuro 11:43, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

arrghh a long beer/coffee/tea/orange juice at curtin uni - I can see- too many issues to cover here. The lash issue - copy and paste best stuff to the one you want to keep - and then direct one of the admins to the ones you want exterminated - I cannot see signs of any of them being on at the moment, and the whole wikipedia system is getting horrible server delays. notability and the lack of adequate supply of third party sources will see some of those you have been tagging potential targets of the xfd mob. would suggest you keep editing in good faith and wait for the possible battles later. which admin to try - I have no idea at this stage. anyways off to some more distractions for a few mnutes SatuSuro 11:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well done - if you get any response in either project is anyones guess - best of luck with the all ears :) SatuSuro 11:54, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
User:Longhair is on - hes trawling arts i know in my watchlist - if you ask ery nicely about the lash stuff he might do it for you - hes an e.s. one :) SatuSuro 12:02, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done as requested - sorry it took me so long to get to it! Orderinchaos 22:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Western Australian music groups edit

Have been meaning to set up this category for ages - previously had it set up as a list - check my user page - will have to add those bands on my list to this category now - although I don't mind if you go for it as well Dan arndt 01:10, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • could I suggest that you put a description under the heading similar to [Category - Western Australian musicans]

Welcome aboard edit

Hey, welcome aboard and thanks for your efforts the last couple of days on some neglected but totally necessary tasks. Also, I can see you spent a long time on your first AfD contribution and you raised some very good points there (after catching that article which I missed in my hectic days and looking thru diff's). Look forward to seeing you around and catching up at the next Wiki meetup when it happens. Thewinchester (talk) 14:00, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, glad to see you've finally signed up! Look forward to seeing what you can come up with on our sorely depleted arts and culture sections. WP:WA is truly the place to be at the moment, if you get to know the other contributors there (some of whom have already posted on your talkpage) you'll find a really competent and friendly community of editors who are very supportive as far as their fields of interest and abilities go. Culture in Perth, Western Australia edit

Am happy to look at populating this category but as it doesn't give a clear description of what the category actually is I wasn't certain what to put in it - am aware of a number of Perth venues, festivals and events with articles - will include them for starters... You mean solid editors who accused me of "vandalism" without citing which vandalism rule I broke. Then after I called them out on it, they started harassing me and accusing me over and over without apologizing, and then trying to give me the run around and mock me while making comments in the edit summary?

Please look:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:NobutoraTakeda&action=history http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AThewinchester&diff=145249156&oldid=145248794

The guy, thewinchester, originally stated that there was no reason to delete a list, even though I pointed out that a catagory had the same thing. Then his friend removes my text and claims its vandalism, even though its just proof that the two charts are redundant. Then they start their long game of trying to go back and forth, why trying to disrupt my edits on other pages. When I tried to make an AFD, I had to go through the process. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Noonien_Soong&action=history There was one already so I had to see what was wrong. However, he blanked the page so I couldn't even read the notice to fix the AFD. Instead of trying to help, he just deletes and attacks me even more. He also removed a good edit to the policy section that lists examples, because the example was listed for a year old prior edition of the page, and the page has since deteriorated. Then he keeps saying that I vandalised, then claims that he didn't say I vandalised, while constantly editing my talk page a thousand times and each time putting up a song in the title.

I want to put a page for RfA. He is being utterly rediculous. NobutoraTakeda 18:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you look at what I put up you can see why it was put up. It was a link followed by information and another link followed by information with the clear intent to compare. "I've also seen you accuse people of lying and various other rather serious allegations which is why I started this topic on your talk page" I accuse people who are lying when they are blatantly doing it when I put up a link to show otherwise. You can unknowingly lie or you can knowingly lie, but a lie is still a lie. If you want me to put up the whole case for you, I can put an additional 20 paragraphs or so. I tried to make it easier so you wouldn't have to bother so much. NobutoraTakeda 19:01, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question to anyone reading edit

Anyone know how to archive? I want to have a somewhat cleaner, friendlier talk page. Zivko85 06:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

You can look at my talk page for some ideas. I made an archive template which would just basically allow me to move the whole page to the archive subdirectory if i so wish, keeping edit summaries (I archive monthly) if you follow the layout I have you can't really go wrong... aliasd·U·T 14:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

This Vital Chapter edit

Have cut this from the discussion page as it is basically a comment & answer which does not relate to the discussion:

  • Comment User Dan_arndt has engaged in widespread and indiscriminate canvassing for this AfD on the "keep" side - even my talk page was not immune, as I once changed the category on the article. Zivko85 06:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • In my defence I think if you check you will find that if you check my contributions you will clearly find I have not breached the requirements of WP:CANVASS as any posts have been 'limited', 'neutral' & "nonpartisan'. I have simply placed messages on those individuals who have made contributions to the article on This Vital Chapter or The Panda Band (with the exception of 'bots') and hadn't already made comment asking they they give their views on whether the article be deleted or not. I have not solicited thier support for it's retention as they need to make up their own minds on the matter. Dan arndt 07:07, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • In accordance with the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability (music) 'If the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia.'Dan arndt 07:10, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
And this is not canvassing? "Am happy to see if I can help you out with the above - get it into some form that maybe acceptable - would appreciate if you could assist by supporting the retention of the following Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/QStik Records and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/This Vital Chapter". That reads to me, "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours". This also - "Thanks for the support - appreciated, Could you also make comment regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/QStik Records as well?" My suggestion - focus on getting *these* articles into some form that may be acceptable first, then we just might not be here at all. Zivko85 08:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and on re-reading, "then albums may have" is the key word. Zivko85 08:49, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you note - I deleted those comments when I realised they had overstepped the bounds and was canvassing however if you note in all the others including the one to User:JamesHenstridge I did not ask him to support but asked him to make his comments - I was not trying to influence him only ask that he make his views (whatever they maybe) know. - I take umbridge at your comments as I feel they are misdirected and appear to try an inflame the situation rather than get some serious comments. I am not trying to get into a 'edit war' as I do not feel that achieves anything. Dan arndt 09:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for taking the time to participate at the discussion in my Request for Adminship. Unfortunately the nomination did not succeed, but please rest assured that I am still in full support of the Wikipedia project. I listened carefully to all concerns, and will do my best to incorporate all of the constructive advice that I received, into my future actions on Wikipedia. If you can think of any other ways that I can further improve, please let me know. Best wishes, Elonka 04:44, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
