Beer category decision

A discussion has been opened on changes that have been made to the existing Beer category system. The changes reverse the decision made by the Project in April 2006. The changes were based on agreement by only two people, and by a discussion that took place outside the Beer Project. There may be some merit in the changes, and to prevent future conflict it is important that there is some discussion of the matter. See Template:Attribution which might be the easiest.

It can be used when "a copyright holder specified who does not have a page on Wikipedia" If for some reason this is not sufficient to other editors or your buddies don't want there names mentioned we have a few other options so go for it.Cptnono (talk) 19:16, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I think all images going on Wikipedia have to go into public domain. Not sure if an image can be released to just wikipedia which is a shame when a professional is giving you such permission. Let me poke around tonight and maybe throw up an inquiry in commons or somewhere else to get the answer.Cptnono (talk) 19:48, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

It looks like the above is incorrect. There is fair use rational which means you do not need permission to use for assorted reasons but the work is not allowed elsewhere. The image does not fall into that category, though. I'll keep on poking around and see what I find.Cptnono (talk) 01:32, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Again in regards to the professional image, it looks like there is a Noncommercial or NonCommercial (nc) but this only prevents distribution for commercial purposes. Check out Creative Commons licenses . It might be easiest just to bring a really nice camera to the next game and hope no one spills their beverage on it!Cptnono (talk) 07:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

It looks like a helpful admin made a message on my talk regarding your image that confirms the last comment: "Yukata, I'm sorry to say that permission to use only on Wikipedia is not sufficient for inclusion on Wikipedia. Asashoryu see below

Hi. The "see below" addition to Asashoryu's inbox (and the inbox of many of other wrestlers if you've noticed) was an effort to try to attract more interest to the tournament tables we added way back, and also to simplify the updating of wrestlers' info by removing the redundancy of having to enter the current rank twice every tournament for people who are updating rikishi. But, I suppose, as you mentioned, it doesn't save any work in updating for Yokozuna (and less so Ozeki), so I decided not to dispute your revert (though the attempt to attract more attention to tournament tables is thwarted). I see your name is also on the list of "participants" on the wp:sumo page, and your continued assistance is appreciated with Asashoryu and hopefully beyond. I have not been keeping up with the Sumo wikigroup, was this a decision to change all to use a see below format? I think it kind of defeats the purpose of info boxes which give valuable information in an easy to see way and place. Directing the user to elsewhere in the article takes some of that away. Also, the info box has a last updated info section to alert if data might be out of date. I agree that having to update all the time might be tedious, maybe just listing the main rank name instead of name and number would be helpful. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
