Halp! edit

Hey there! This isnt really all that important, but I thought i might as well ask. Yesterday, someone was talking about the essay that was a "how to" on how to convince adult admins that you are 13 years old. You know where i can find it? Searching for it is not helping. Its cool if you cant, and awesome if you can :) thanks. Lucifer (talk) 20:31, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD for Brianna Taylor edit

Hi Yamakiri. Just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you are not watchlisting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brianna Taylor—your concern was the absence of sources, but I have now added a long list of sources, so you may want to take another look. Best wishes, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 03:11, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking the time to re-visit the discussion. Cheers. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 04:20, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletions edit

Hi Yamakiri It is my understanding that in searching for information in Wikipedia it is possible, and desirable, to use both categories and lists. In setting up these lists I am following the example of some great Wikipedians and some great Wikipedian work. I suggest you look at page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_basic_geography_topics - which is what I intend to do for sustainability. It is extremely useful in locating individual entries. Could you please give me a good reason why I should not follow this example in Geography. Granitethighs (talk) 23:53, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have already been told about signing pages and stopped doing that as soon as I was asked. Have you looked at the Geography page I mention above - I do not at present think you have presented sufficient reason for deletion - a single page will soon be too cumbersome.I would appreciate a more considered response.Granitethighs (talk) 00:01, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I will not bother you again, but I am not convinced. The pages I set up were "under development" - yes I should have used a template but the message was clear. Each page would, very soon, have contained much more material than is currently there. I was setting the pages up so that I could add much more to each, and I repeat, the Geography example is precisely what I wished to do - it is extremely useful and a legitimate way of organising Wikipedia searching. I shall have to go to appeal - essentially on the grounds that I am following the recommended procedure used in the single example listed at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Lists_of_basic_topics. On this page the geography article is cited as exemplary - in other words all I was doing was following recommended Wikipedia procedure. I ask you to read the suggested approach to formulating basic lists and reconsider. By the way a lot of work went into these lists and I would like to know where you have put the combined list Granitethighs (talk) 00:22, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just letting you know, I've posted a thread at Wikipedia:Village_pump (miscellaneous)#List of sustainability topics hoping to get more input on this. – Luna Santin (talk) 11:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of ACT (mouthwash) edit

A tag has been placed on ACT (mouthwash), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TheBressman (talk) 00:50, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merging and attribution edit

Please see here. For more on how to merge correctly, see WP:MERGE. Please do not ask for redirects left after merging to be speedy deleted. Carcharoth (talk) 12:33, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replied there. Sorry if it comes across as snippy (annoyed), but this is an important point to get right about how to do a merge. Carcharoth (talk) 16:57, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikibreak edit

Hi Yamakiri. I'd like to apologise if I contributed in any way to the stress that seems to have led to your recent wikibreak. I should have said that, despite my comment about merging and attribution (see above), you were right to do the merging in the first place. I've said this on Granitethighs talk page as well, and would be happy to say so elsewhere as well. Carcharoth (talk) 09:41, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your Comment edit

I find your comment uncivil and it has been removed from my editor review. While making an editor review, please only provide comments that go towards my work on Wikipedia. Yamakiri, if this has to do with my removal of your bot on my channel, it was so a private conversation could take place. Your comments hurt and were not appreciated. DustiSPEAK!! 20:11, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

(Cross posting for clarity) I was not being incivil, and I didn't know you took my bot out of your channel (I really don't mind, it's your channel). I did not know that you would be hurt by such mild comments. But if you wish for me to exclusively comment on your Wikipedia relivant contributions, please do not post being temp staff on a test wiki as an accomplishment. Yamakiri TC § 07-23-2008 • 20:23:43
Sigh, Yamakiri, let's get real here, it wasn't a note of accomplishment, just a statement. I've done this, I've done that. Come on, let's get over the petty stuff and do something constructive here, honestly. As I recall, you also were a temp steward at one time. Not that it matters, let's just drop this and move on, please :) DustiSPEAK!! 13:45, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you voted to delete this list partly because it lacked an assertion of notability. I added mention of its notability (the diff[1]) and I was hoping you'd take another look. Cheers. --TM 20:33, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks! edit

  Thank you...

...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 21:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
