Welcome!

edit

Hi Xtrump, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as J. Percy Page, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from web sites. For more information, take a look at our policy library. Happy editing!

The above being said, you seem intrested in Edmonton related articles. If you need any help with any problems associated with them, I would be glad to help as a fellow Edmontonian. Thanks! Sasquatch′TC 08:01, July 23, 2005 (UTC)

Re:Copyright

edit

Yeah... it kind of sucks but all Canadian government material is under a perpetual Crown copyright (meaning it never expires). However, most US goernment material is not copyrighted for some reason... see Crown Copyright#In Canada for more details. Thanks! Sasquatch′TC 22:23, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

Ponoka

edit

Alright, I fixed the "cut and paste move" (next time try to use the move button when moving pages, it preserves the edit history per GFDL) but kept the redirect (at Ponoka since [Special:Whatlinkshere/Ponoka] shows quite a lot of pages link there). And yes I am and admin (just got my adminship actually). Happy editing! Sasquatch′TC 08:16, July 31, 2005 (UTC)

Sourcing

edit

For sources see Wikipedia:Citing sources, as for how to format them on wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Citations quick reference and especially Wikipedia:Footnotes. Hope that helps! Sasquatch t|c 05:15, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

use the talk page

edit

please take a look at the talk page of Greco-Persian Wars and tell others when you intent to massively edit an article. I do absolutely object that you moved the table with the number of Persian troops down in the article, while the Greek tables are left in place. All the numbers are from one source and must thus be treated equally. Wandalstouring (talk) 10:03, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

References

edit

You can't use Wikipedia articles as references, therefore you shouldn't replace citation requests with a pointer to an article. Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 07:47, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

December 2012

edit

Constructive contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage of another user may be considered vandalism. Specifically, your edit to User:Hwy43 may be offensive or unwelcome. In general, it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing others' userpages without their permission. Instead, please bring the matter to their talk page and let them edit their user page themselves if they agree on a need to do so. Please refer to Wikipedia:User page for more information on User page etiquette. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 05:32, 23 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
