A summary of site policies and guidelines you need to know about
edit- We don't care about "Truth," only verifiability. That means no tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
- We do not publish original thought nor original research. We're not a blog, we're not here to promote any ideology, especially tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
- Wikipedia is not a general discussion forum, additions to talk pages should be about improving the article within the guidelines, not voicing one's opinion on the subject matter, especially if they're tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
- Reliable sources typically include: articles from magazines or newspapers (particularly scholarly journals), or books by recognized authors (basically, books by respected publishers). Online versions of these are usually accepted, provided they're held to the same standards. User generated sources (like Wikipedia) are to be avoided. Self-published sources should be avoided except for information by and about the subject that is not self-serving (for example, citing a company's website to establish something like year of establishment). In other words, no books, videos, or websites that support tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
- Articles are to be written from a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not concerned with facts or opinions, it just summarizes reliable sources. Real scholarship actually does not say what understanding of the world is "true," but only with what there is evidence for. Wikipedia largely interprets this to mean "no tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories."
- Again, no tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories.
If the Illuminati is real, Wikipedia would be a tool for them
editSeriously, if you really believe the Illuminati rule the world or something, posting on Talk:Illuminati is only going to give them your IP address and let them know they need to come after you.
Of course, if you're just trolling, then you'll be blocked soon. Ian.thomson (talk) 04:21, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Talk:Illuminati
editPlease note that article talk pages are reserved solely for matters directly concerning article content, and that articles must be based on published reliable sources. Accordingly, your personal research regarding any supposed links between Quenn Elizableth and the Bavarian Illuminati is of no relevance to us and accordingly will be removed. If you want to promote such theories, find an appropriate website elsewhere. AndyTheGrump (talk) 04:22, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Conspiracy theorist at Talk:Illuminati. Thank you. Ian.thomson (talk) 04:43, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Hey
editConspiracy theorists have been around for decades now come and gone, the world hasn't ended the grass still grows the rain still falls hens still lay eggs. Not sure if you are trolling or serious but in any case Wikipedia does not appear to be the right place for you if you aren't going to try to help around here. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 05:19, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Please do not attack other editors, as you did on Talk:Illuminati. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Ian.thomson (talk) 05:41, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Blocked
edit{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. XX Jon Doe Xx: I've blocked your account since your entire editing history shows a focus on promoting a view of The Truth rather than on building an encyclopedia. I note that your last edits to Talk:Illuminati say that you were collecting data for a study on the treatment of editors; this is further evidence of your not being here to participate in the project. I also see evidence both here and there that experienced editors have offered you advice and tried to inform you about how we operate here, in particular about the basis of our editing in verifiabilty. If you change your mind and decide to resume participating in the project, please read the applicable policy pages and think about these issues before making your unblock request, since your account is still new and it is possible you are uninformed about what we do here.
