Per MOS:ETHNICITY, a subject's ethnicity is not normally mentioned in the lead, and it is definitely not conflated with nationality - we don't call anyone Jewish-American, as that implies some kind of otherness apart from other Americans, for instance. In this cse, Belmont was born in what is now Germany, in a German-speaking area of the French Empire. How to thread that needle is open to debate, but substituting "Jewish" isn't the way to do it.
