Notability of Hailey "WHOA" Wojcik

edit

A tag has been placed on Hailey "WHOA" Wojcik requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ArglebargleIV (talk) 05:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removing Speedy at MyCityDeal

edit

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with MyCityDeal. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:47, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi there Wojciker! I saw that you added a {{hangon}} tag to a page which you created, MyCityDeal. This is good, but in the process you removed the tag requesting deletion under CSD G11. Even though there is a hangon on the page, the deletion template should remain there. But don't worry, this doesn't mean that the page is going to get deleted. Make sure you edit the talk page of the page nominated for deletion, located at Talk:MyCityDeal, administrators will look at your reason why the page should remain before they decide what to do. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

A few tips

edit

Hi, Wojciker. I'm the one who put the speedy tag on the article - so, since you made the step to indicate what you are trying to do, under our policy of assuming good faith, I'm going to provide you a few tips on this rather than fight. =)

What we're looking for insofar as article content is anything that would be notable, can be verified, and any of this would be from reliable sources. In the case of MyCityDeal, WP:CORP would be excellent to review.

I'll be pulling the speedy off of the article shortly so that you can get time to work on the article, without an administrator pushing the button on you. For some finer details, you can always put a {{helpme}} tag here in your talk page, and somebody will answer the question you put in with it.

I truly hope you can make this work - good luck. =)

Thank you for uploading File:MCDlogo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 01:23, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Help request

{{help me}}

Could someone please tell me how I go about linking a word or phrase in the English wikipedia to a word or phrase in the German wikipedia, for example. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have taken note of the file uploads and will get to work on fixing it ASAP!

For this purpose interwiki links are used. Keep in mind that you should generally evade linking content phrases - for example, you should not link a different language article if you wish to give an explanation about a phrase. Other then this interwiki links are used to link different-language article's togather. The Google article contains [[fr:Google]] for example - which shows that there is an article about the same subject on the French wikipedia, under the aticle name Google. Agreed. Do not link to other language Wikipedia articles within the body text; each wiki have its own standards and conventions, so a linked article may well differ in standards; also, people reading the English Wikipedia expect the wikilinks to also be in English.
As noted above, it is possible - you can put, for example, de:Bratwurst to link to the German Wikipedia page called "Bratwurst"; that will produce a link: de:Bratwurst
But we would only use this 'internally' - on talk pages and suchlike; not on articles.
The reason for the leading colon is to prevent the link from being treated as an inter-language link in the side-bar; if you just put de:Bratwurst it would not appear in the body text, but instead would list the link in the left-hand toolbar under 'other languages'.

Help

edit

You used a 'helpme' on Talk:MyCityDeal - and no, that's not the right place. Use article discussion pages for discussing possible changes to the article. {{helpme}} should be used right here, on your own talk page. So, you wrote;

Hello! Ok, well I hope I am posting correctly on this page as I want my case to be heard before my page is deleted! This is my first time attempting a real post on wikipedia and I thought I had followed all the necessary steps and read all I needed to read on how to put together a proper post that would not be deleted. However, as soon as it was posted it was flagged as Speedy Deletion! The horror!
Basically, I would appreciate it if my page were not deleted but I am very much open to fixing whatever it is that needs to be fixed. Constructive criticism is always helpful to the hopeful wiki user and I'm hoping you will take this into consideration before the page is deleted. Again, I am willing to change whatever the panel sees unfit as long as I know where I have gone wrong.

Thank-you for your time! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wojciker (talkcontribs) 18:57, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}}

Hello! I have tried updating the page and including more secondary sources. Given that the concept of Group Buying in the internet sector is still a relatively new concept, it is hard to find several academic resources that have been peer reviewed. That being said, I have linked secondary sources from notable news outlets yet I am still getting a warning. Can anyone help me sort out this out? I would like my article to be acceptable to wikipedia without warnings!

Thanks you, Wojciker!

The page is no longer threatened with 'speedy deletion', so I think this is no longer relevant; the speedy deletion request was declined.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello.  Chzz  ►  10:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Groupon MyCityDeal

edit

A tag has been placed on Groupon MyCityDeal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
