Proposed deletion of The Agency (franchise)

edit

The article The Agency (franchise) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable youtube series that would seem to fail the general notability guideline.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bfigura (talk) 01:03, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Agency (franchise) has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://Twitter.com/TheAgencyMovie (matching the regex rule \btwitter\.com\b). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Speedy deletion nomination of Mike Winkler

edit

A tag has been placed on Mike Winkler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.   You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 02:22, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Acroterion (talk) 02:26, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You appear to be using WIkipedia to promote your work. Simply entering the Cleveland Film Festival doesn't meet the notability criteria. Can you provide two or three non-trivial references in independent publications of more than purely local coverage? Acroterion (talk) 02:28, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not your ticket to fame

edit

From the now-deleted Talk:Mike Winkler:

I am Mike Winkler. I created this page to let people know who I am and what I have done. This page is for fans of my work and that so my friends and family that I dont see often can see what I have done also. This page is of importance to me because I am trying to get my name out there and I though Wikipedia was a good place to start. Please do not delete this page.

Wikipedia articles are reserved for subjects that have already achieved notability. Wikipedia is not a venue to promote yourself or your films early in your career. Accordingly, the article about you has been deleted under criterion A7, an article about a living person with no assertion of significance or importance.

As noted above, the general indicator of notability is whether a person, film, etc. has received coverage in reliable sources. In other words, if you or your film have been written about in newspapers, in magazines, on TV station websites, and the like, it might be an indicator that you/it are notable. No such sources have been given in any of the articles you created.

I don't want to be harsh, but perhaps a webhost where you can create pages about yourself and your film is a better venue for you to publicize your film. Wikipedia is certainly not the place for it. —C.Fred (talk) 02:34, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
