RFC/U edit

I have decided an RFC/U is on order for TG's shoddy sourcing and edit warring of uncited content into articles. As you expressed alarm over one aspect of his behaviour I am informing you in case you would like to endorse it.[1] Darkness Shines (talk) 13:13, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

That seems reasonable. Though eventually a community ban would probably be the most appropriate action. but here on wp it is a good idea to go in a methodical step wise fashion. best wishes in your endeavors to keep wp neutral anf free of POV warriors. i will add in my 2 cents to the RfC as time permits.--Wikireader41 (talk) 01:41, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest edit

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir edit

See Human rights abuses in Azad Kashmir the content you just added would be more suited there Darkness Shines (talk) 21:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think those 2 articles need to be consolidated. the pro pakistani lobby here on wikipedia would rather have the world believe that HR violations in Kashmir only happen in the Indian controlled part but the reality is that situation is worse in the area under Pakistani control according to neutral observers like UNHCR. This fact needs to be obvious to any reader who may not be as familiar with the ground situation as we are. Don't know if having info in separate article would be the best way to go for that reason. are you planning to write another article on Human rights abuses in Gilgit-Baltistan ? a tonne of info on that in RS on that. Keep up your strong work though.--Wikireader41 (talk) 21:22, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well I just started one on the situation in Balochistan after finishing reading HRH world report. I went looking to see if there were enough academic sources to bring it up to GA class and there are. I will be concentrating on that for the next few weeks. I will create a stub for now and expand on it later if that is ok with you? Darkness Shines (talk) 22:22, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
BTW if you wish to merge Human rights abuses in Azad Kashmir into Human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir please do so, once the section there gets to large a spin off can always be setup at the old article. Darkness Shines (talk) 22:25, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
What is meant by "HR violations in Kashmir only happen in the Indian controlled part" is that issues in Pakistani Kashmir mainly revolve around political repression or the supposed lack of political autonomy thereof. Pakistan-administered Kashmir does not have any extensive issues related to mass killings, torture, arrests of civilians, rape etc., at the scale that these things are prevalent in Indian-administered Kashmir. So your observation is not really correct as far as human rights abuses against civilians is concerned. Mar4d (talk) 02:39, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Is [| this link] considered reliable for the content it has?

A discussion on reliable source that I was part of [| here]. इति इतिUAनेति नेति Humour Thisthat2011 08:14, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

@ Mar4d you may want to read Freedom in the World 2011 - Kashmir (Pakistan) and compare it with Freedom in the World 2011 - Kashmir (India) to get a sense of which place has better human rights ;-). One part is partly free and another is not free. Azad Kashmir really is a misnomer.--Wikireader41 (talk) 19:51, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
@ Darkness Shines for reasons stated above I think consolidating the 2 articles is a good idea. moreover the article title states jammu and kashmir not Indian administered Kashmir. The readers will be better served if article discusses plight of Kashmiris on both sides of LoC. i will work on merging when I get some time. The persecution of Shias in Pakistan admin Kashmir by wahhabi fundamentalists needs further discussion [2]--Wikireader41 (talk) 20:22, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Moved it to Human rights abuses in Kashmir so all aspects can be covered. going to pass out now am quite drunk Darkness Shines (talk) 21:02, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
