Wiki-links
editI noticed that you have been making a lot of small changes like adding links to other pages that are not really related. It might be helpful to read the Manual of Style entry on adding links. That way you will get a better idea of what words should or should not be linked to another page. Thanks! Reconrabbit (talk|edits) 19:28, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
Please read MOS:OL. Thank you. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 19:20, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
Perhaps the following may help to clarify the messages above.
I see that some of your edits have added links from one article to another, known as "wikilinks". Wikilinks can be very helpful, but it is a very common mistake among new editors to add too many wikilinks to articles. Generally speaking, a wikilink should be added only if it provides information which is likely to help readers of the article in which the link is placed to understand content of that article, or provide further information closely connected to content of that article. That normally means a link to a page which either explains words or expressions in the article or provides background information which is necessary in order to understand content of that article. Linking to articles in other situations is not just unnecessary, it is actually harmful, because research has established that the more irrelevant, or only slightly relevant, links there are in a page, the less likely readers are to find the ones which they are likely to find useful. Thus, for example, nobody reading the article ClubCorp is likely to need to consult the article Golf in order to understand what "golf" means, nor does the article Golf contain any information about ClubCorp, so linking the one to the other is not likely to be helpful. - It's more than that, JBW. There are multiple edits suggesting lack of grammar skills, and really creative links like this [1]. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 00:34, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you. I hadn't seen that. Wikiedtior89, in an article about a person who lived in the twentieth century and into the early 21st century, in the statement that he was an American journalist, you linked the word "American" to the article American Civil War. It is very difficult to see that as anything other than deliberate vandalism, but if it wasn't then please explain why you did it; otherwise you are very likely to be blocked from editing.
