Med Jones edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Med Jones, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.iim-edu.org/associates/medjones/grossnationalhappinessgnh.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of Med Jones edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Med Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I got the permission via email and sent it to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org How do I show that on my talk page? Wiki.damsel (talk)

I feel sorry that your talk page is flooded with copyright messages on your first day of Wikipedia! I removed the speedy deletion tag, but I have still blanked the whole article as most of the text was closely paraphrased. Here's some more advice about dealing with copyright.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Med Jones saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Minima© (talk) 06:32, 21 May 2011 (UTC). I got the permission via email and sent it to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org How do I show that on my talk page? Wiki.damsel (talk)Reply

I have done this for you on your article's talk page here. The template you would need for this situation (Which I don't think you've seen before) is the {{OTRS pending}} template. Minima© (talk) 15:10, 21 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Minmac, I got the royalty free copyright permission email, yet someone deleted the page, isn't "royalty free" permission enough? can you help? Wiki.damsel (talk)

Update regarding copyright concern edit

Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the article has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (if you are not the copyright holder or have co-authored the material, release under CC-BY-SA-compatible license alone is sufficient), the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.

As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that our licenses permit modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained and future copies are compatibly licensed.

Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.

I sent an email to the institute and received a permission to use the bio royalty free. Even some of the research articles have in them permission to use royalty free. I forwarded the email to Wiki, they responded with some legal email asking for (creative commons) permission, my entry was deleted before getting a response back from the institute. Frankly, I think this is unnecessary bureaucracy. If we already got the (royalty free) permission to republish the bio, why burden them or scare them with legal stuff. If every time, it is going to be troublesome to contribute to Wiki and get my contribution deleted, I prefer not to be part of the project. - If someone can track my copyright email and restore the page, then great, if not then I wish you luck. Wiki.damsel (talk)

Good day,
I'm sorry that you have hit the difficult part of Wikipedia's Learning curve head-on, those issues are always a tad complex.
The problem with "royalty-free" is that this is unfortunately not sufficient for our purposes. Text that we include in our articles must be royalty-free but also open up to modification and commercial use. When a copyright owner releases their material for us, they also release it for all of our mirrors, and some of them will make money off the content.
The "open to modification" part is also essential, as we need to have the liberty to expand or tweak the donated text. Without this, we can unfortunately not keep the submitted text.
The legalities may indeed be daunting, but the institute must absolutely understand what exactly they are giving away under what conditions. Hence the bureaucratic hassle.
Otherwise, it would be better to rewrite the bio in your own words, ideally drawing from more than one source, as this will moot the whole matter.
If you need any help, you can create a new section on your talk page and add {{helpme}} followed by your request below it, someone will be along shortly to assist you. Alternatively, you may also leave me a message on my talk page. Best regards, MLauba (Talk) 09:50, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Wiki.damsel, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

McGeddon (talk) 11:28, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi McGddon, I did not know what Sock puppetry. I read it for the first time when you posted it to my page. If I violated any policy, I did so, unwittingly, I promise to educate my self more on the community policy and abide by them in the future. Thanks - Wiki.damsel

As it says in the template there, "If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly" - please do this. --McGeddon (talk) 13:53, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi MaGddon, thanks for the response. I went to the requested page and verified that I, unwittingly, violated the stated policy, that I did not know about before. Is there anything else you need from me?

No, that's all that's required to deal with this particular problem. --McGeddon (talk) 14:07, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! and I apologize again. I want to be a good contributor, but it is not that easy to learn all the ins and outs of Wikipedia editing techniques, terminology and rules, etc. I'm still learning and it appears to take so much time and edits before one can do it without mistakes. Thank you for your understanding!

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:16, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
