Speedy deletion nomination of Template:My Sandbox

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 00:43, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Tools

Hi, sorry if I'm giving you info you already have, if not, try this:

  1. Install this bookmarklet
  2. Go here
  3. From your booksmarks/favorite menu click RefTag

Nice, eh? Play around with it. Reference Generator is nice for making web citations etc. etc. Any problems, let me know. MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 01:19, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elaine and Melanie Silver

Hello Who R you?. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elaine and Melanie Silver, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: there is no reason to delete this - the records of these discussions are kept for the history, and it is possible that the issue may be reopened some time. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 12:34, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

OK. That's cool, I just figured no sense in keeping a 5-year old discussion page about a page that doesn't exist anymore because it was merged, and only a redirect exists now. But thanks for the reply. --Who R you? (talk) 12:40, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
No problem. When something is deleted, it becomes visible only to admins, but it is not actually removed from the system, so deleting doesn't actually save any space. From the similar style, I presume this edit was you as well. You shouldn't normally need to add an explanation as well as a speedy tag, the tag should make the reason clear enough to the admin who looks at it. Have a read of WP:CSD to see the (deliberately limited) class of pages that can be speedied. User talk pages and discussions like AfDs are kept for the history. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 12:50, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Yup, me again. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm surprised nothing gets deleted. Just goes to show how cheap storage space is these days. I'll stick to just the tag if I come across anything in future. Thanks again. --Who R you? (talk) 12:57, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

No worries!

Hey, no worries about the sandbox thing. We were all new once, and I've made worse mistakes in the past. It all got sorted out in the end :) Might I suggest the Adopt-a-user program? Basically, you get mentoring in the Wikipedia basics from a more experienced user, be it formatting, rules, how to create a page, etc. The best thing is, it's completely personalized, so you get help with the specific things you need. Also, if you ever get stuck on anything, just put {{helpme}} on your talkpage, followed by your question. I hope this helps! :) You can reply here or on your talkpage, but if you reply here, would you please put {{talkback|Who R you?}} on my talkpage? Thank you! If you ever need help, feel free to ask me, though I'm attending school in Chile for the next month or so, so I might not be superquick to reply. Hope this all has helped you! — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 20:44, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Excellent; thanks! Enjoy the Chilian Chili  . And I'll use the {{helpme}} as needed (good to know); I've already asked a few questions of others as needed and I'm (ohhh so slowly) getting the hang of things. -- Who R you? (talk) 21:53, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry, I was the same way as a new user. I see you've been fixing some typos; once you've been here a while and have more edits you can apply for use of Auto-Wiki Browser, which will be really helpful with typo fixing.
Also, something you can do right now is use Lupin's tools, which are a set of tools that include vandalism patrol and typo patrol. Basically, once you've started using the tool, you go to a page and it shows an ever-updating list of possible typos and you click to fix 'em. (No installation needed!). If you want to use it and need help figuring out how to set it up, just let me know. — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 21:59, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
