Scientific names

Please stop adding "Musa Acuminata Colla" as a scientific name. Binomial nomenclature has fairly strict rules on how scientific names are formed and written. The "Colla" part in the name from USDA is what is known as a botanical author citation, it is NOT part of the scientific name proper but is merely the last name of the botanist who first described the plant - in this case it refers to an Italian botanist named Luigi Aloysius Colla who first named the plant in 1820 from specimens from the Philippines. A more common example of this is the "L.", "Linn." or "Linnaeus" in a lot of plant and animal names. It refers to the person who first gave them their scientific names - Carl Linnaeus.

I suggest reading the Binomial nomenclature article we have to understand at least how scientific names are used. It's a confusing and complex topic to non-biologists, so I suggest you leave its addition to editors who are more experienced with taxonomy or biology in general.-- OBSIDIAN†SOUL 08:39, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
