Reflecting on your Peer Review

edit

Hi Westontengan1,

Thanks for the feedback on our article draft for Memot Circular Earthworks! I was hoping to address some of the issues you encountered with our article. I know you pointed out possible misspellings of the word "archeology". As we have utilized predominantly American English in our article, we found it fitting to use the term "archeology" compared to "archaeology", especially considering that this is not entirely unusual in the field of anthropology itself. However, we will definitely take your suggestion into consideration! When we say "mostly" in the lead paragraph, we are referring to how the majority of known earthworks are located in eastern Cambodia and around the border of Vietnam. If you see any other possible instances of non-neutral phrasing, we would appreciate further feedback so we can make any necessary adjustments! As for our sources, we understand how when the same authors are cited quite frequently, this may be a cause for concern. Unfortunately, given the limited information available on Memot Circular Earthworks, especially articles written in English, there are names of researchers who pop up quite a bit when finding peer-reviewed works regarding these sites. For this reason, we have made efforts to draw from other sources when possible. Just the other day I had to use Google Translate to find the English translation of a journal's name that was written in Khmer! After reviewing your article draft, it seems that you may be encountering similar difficulties. This would not be surprising given the degree of underrepresentation of SEA archeology on Wikipedia and other platforms. It is our hope that future research will allow for a greater circulation of knowledge on these subject as well as increased accessibility. For now, we simply have to make do with the research available. Lastly, we fully intend to expand upon our draft and include more information, thus lengthening the sections we have already started, and creating more sections in the future. Your feedback has given us a lot to think about and we would be more than happy to provide feedback on your article draft in the future.

Best,
