Sacks alongside the road in cities and towns are more vulnerable to road traffic accidents

edit

Our hearts normally sink to see an increasing number of shacks being constructed very close to roads, within even 20m from the road. These shacks are more vulnerable to road traffic accidents as they are not protected by the outer shell of vehicles and they can be bumped and destroyed by traffic if driver happen to lose the control of their vehicles. It is like the nation does not understand the bad impacts of staying very close to the road. Most of people who are staying in those shacks believe, it is their best ever opportunity to get better employment. But it is senseless because most of people who are staying there are uneducated and they are not specialized for any job. We also don't think it is helpful for those people to sacrifice their lives in employment opportunities, rather than keeping their lives safe by staying in rural areas away from roads. This reveals to us the accident that happened on 10 August 2010, in Windhoek, Otjomuise whereby a Runaway bakkie kills a child and destroys shacks[1]
