Fair use rationale for Image:Steeldawn.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Steeldawn.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Zero-one.gif edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Zero-one.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:29, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Spinosaurus.png) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Spinosaurus.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Jokervenom.jpg edit

I have tagged Image:Jokervenom.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. You know, there are other images on List of one-time characters from The Simpsons that have no fair use rationale that you could've tagged. You "noticed" two of the images I uploaded had no rationale, yet you failed to notice Image:Aristotle Amodopoulos.jpg had no rationale? Great, that proves it, I have users specifically hunting down images I upload because I've gained a reputation as someone who uploads images 'illegally'. Well, whoop-dee-doo, I'm being watched! Surveilled, if you will! What a wonderful experience I'm having on this website, the community of this project welcoming me with open arms and suspicious glances! Oh your god, how glorious for me. Anti-Democratic Thought edit

VolatileChemical: I responded to your concerns on the Anti-Democratic Thought article. I agree that the article is sorely lacking, so much so that I believe it should be reorganized entirely, folded back into the Criticisms section of the Democracy article, and subsequently deleted. At the moment, I don't have the time to personally devote to it, but I will at some point in the not too distant future. Do you agree with my conclusions? Yes, absolutely I do. Good to see someone agrees with me. You're right, the page should be spliced with the main article. I'll set up the merge templates. VolatileChemical 19:48, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Outraged edit

Is this where you complain about this site? I don't care, I'm complaining here anyway. I created the category Category:And Now For Something Completely Different. Obviously, it was deleted. Here's the deletion discussion. Only thing is, I created that page, and I should've been notified that it was up for deletion! Someone, usually or possibly always an administrator, has always notified me when a page I created or an image I uploaded is listed for deletion, and has allowed me access and notification of the debate. But not in this case! Unacceptable! I don't know what complaining about it will do, but I'm doing it anyway! VolatileChemical 12:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You need to discuss this with the nominator, User:Otto4711. It is a courtesy for the nominator to notify the creator of any page that the page has been nominated for deletion; there is no "official process" by which is happens. — Carl (CBM · talk) 12:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Burlington seal.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Burlington seal.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:06, 15 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Fair use disputed for Image:Rex Banner.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rex Banner.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:42, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have read your message edit

Look, I'm sorry that your feelings are all hurt that your little category got deleted. But if you do not stop harassing me and being uncivil, I will take action to have you sanctioned. Please stop reposting your diatribe and seriously, get over it. Otto4711 17:15, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

How many times do I have to stress this? I couldn't care less that the category got deleted. I'm upset about the fact that you didn't tell me you submitted it for deletion. You have to do that. That's how this website works. It's like demolishing an abandoned office building without consulting the owner. The only reason I kept posting my message was because you hadn't responded. It makes me think that you might start deleting articles people made that they actually worked hard on and cared about without telling them. I would've stopped with my first post and never bothered you again if you had given me the courtesy of so much as one word of response. Maybe a "I'll tell you next time"; or a "I'm sorry" or a "You're right" or a "My bad" or a "I meant to, but I forgot". But when you delete someone's complaint like that without even acknowledging that you read it, it makes you come off like a really big jerk who doesn't care about listening to the people he wronged, whether they cared about being wronged, or, in my case, didn't. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
