Question about wikilinks edit

Can a Wikilink link in the can be considered the reference for the text it is in if it links to an article where the information in the text with the Wikilink is provided with sources? (This question occurred to me after seeing the texts without references but with wikilinks where the information could be found).

No, you should copy the relevant source to the first article. What if the wikilink is removed? Then the source is gone. So we should cite sources on both pages. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 03:53, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

'tag filter' in searches of deletion log don't seem to work, how to use? edit

All tag filter numbers return no results. I've also tried using U1 (abbreviation for my criteria for speedy deletion) in the tag filter and that doesn't work either. What is supposed to be entered for the tag filter fields? Or are is this field currently not working? (The User and Title fields seem to work). {{helpme}}

You're looking for edit filter tags. They can be "possible libel or BLP vandalism" or something. A list is at Special:Tags. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 04:53, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes I was referring to the list and tried the filter numbers e.g. "Tagged by filter 61." and also the tag names that you suggested. But no results are returned. Also, there is no tag for U1 deletions or user page deletions in general? -Verapar (talk) 05:13, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
It may be that you're misunderstaning each other. There are different types of "tags", for example, CSD tags, like {{db-u1}} and there are tags produced by the edit filter that are designed to flag potentially problematic edits (for example "possible BLP issues or vandalism" will trigger when an IP adds the word "gay" [amongst others] to a biography of a living person). Hope that helps, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:42, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. So which tags can be used in the 'Tag filter' search field to search in the Deletion Logs or Contributions? And is there a tag that you would use to search for U1 deletions or user page deletions in general? -Verapar (talk) 11:04, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've taken a look here:mediawiki/wiki/Extension:AbuseFilter/RulesFormat but I'm not sure how to do the search above. I'll ask at the help desk. -Verapar (talk) 14:11, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
In the tag filter, you enter "references removed" or "possible BLP issues or vandalism" or something listed on the left of Special:Tags; like this search. These tags do not work with "U1" because that's a deletion tag, not an edit filter tag. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 21:55, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info. -Verapar (talk) 22:01, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I also received this reply at the help desk: WP:Help_desk/Archives/2011_January_1#how_to_use_the_tag_filter
"The edit filter performs filters on edits as they happen, it does not back-search the database for edits. You'd have to write a script to do that on your own. It looks like your looking for a function that the edit filter doesn't perform. --Jayron32 16:54, 1 January 2011 (UTC)" -Verapar (talk) 14:04, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Fixed your talk page archiving edit

Hi! I took the liberty of restoring the auto-archiving settings and some other stuff at the top of this page from /Archive 1 (which I've moved from /Archive 11) --rchard2scout (talk) 13:35, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
