Place of Birth for people born in Estonia
editHey, you act as if no discussion is possible and that you have the complete right to decide, based on no arguments. Here are my arguments:
- According to international law, Estonia was an occupied country and its independent status was widely supported in the free world.
- Supporting your logic, we would add "Paris, German occupied France" for someone born in Paris in 1942.
- Estonia is also a distinct geographical term, while the SSR is a political regime, which is totally unnecessary in the infobox.
- Even more, the issue really has been discussed before: here, here, here, here and most importantly HERE.
So please, please read through these discussions. There actually is a consensus about people born in Estonia at the time. Ca. 99.9% in fact have the birthplace simply as "Estonia" and you are trying to push the "Estonian SSR" into a single outstanding article. What is your exact agenda? I will revert to the "Estonia" option tomorrow. If you really wish to change something here, please don't start a lengthy discussion personally with me, but do it publicly, as proper to Wikipedia.H2ppyme (talk) 21:44, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

editNo matter occupied or not, it wasn't an independent country during the Soviet era. It was a state/ republic and part of the Soviet Union (USSR)- Estonian SSR (Soviet Socialist Republic), not independent country of Estonia, it was under Soviet control. People born in the years between 6th of August 1940— 20th of August 1990 in the Estonian SSR are actually born in the Soviet Union, you can't change the World's history and reality ! I don't need to read any discussions, discussed by people that are not historians. These are historian facts that cannot be changed. Example: A person born in state of California (a U.S. state), trying refute that he was born in the United States. Or a person born in the RSFSR, repudiating that he was born in the Soviet Union. In our days- a person born in North Ossetia repudiating that he was born in the Russian Federation. And yes, during the years when France was occupied by Nazi Germany there wasn't a country on this planet France, late it got it's independence— you can take a look at the world map of 1942. Estonia was part of the Soviet Union— geographically and politically from 1940 (when got occupied by the Russians) to 1990 (when it gain independence and was recognized by the United Nations). - Saying that your opponents are not worth the discussion, because you don't know if they are historians, doesn't really mean anything. We also don't know that you are an historian. It also doesn't matter, because everyone has the right to discuss in Wikipedia.
- Note that 1) Estonia was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940-1941 and 1944-1991. So in 1941-1944, according to your logic, the birthplace would be Ostland. 2) Also, Estonia was just as much occupied as France was during World War II or even parts of the Soviet Union were during World War II. Do you think that people born in Western Soviet Union during WW2 would have their birthplace something other than the Soviet Union? 3) Estonia didn't do anything revisionist in 1991, stating that the country has been an independent international entity since 1918, because its independence was recognized by most world states during the ENTIRE occupation period. 4) And most importantly, not reading previous discussions, because they are "discussed by people that are not historians." and "These are historian facts that cannot be changed." By refusing any discussion on the subject, you have been acting on extremely bad faith!" Please look up the discussions and see that you are not the only person with an opinion and a right to back their statements with facts in Wikipedia. H2ppyme (talk) 07:14, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Why don't you just take a look of the World's map/ and,or the map of Europe from the last century and stop arguing...

- The source is not backed by reliable information. You can not state or point out which organisations Russia exports to (and it is not necessary). Under "not reliable source" we should understand, lets say propaganda by a Western media. Valio Subaru (talk) 23:44, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- You are welcome to raise your concerns about sources at the article's talk page, and propose better and more neutral ones. You may not unilaterally remove sourced info. "Media" is plural in English. --John (talk) 21:01, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
