License tagging for Image:Wiki2 uclalat 1387 b39 24931-1.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Wiki2 uclalat 1387 b39 24931-1.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

An image that you uploaded, Image:Wiki uclalat 1429 b18 N20.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Royalbroil 05:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

Please prefer Wikimedia Commons if you want to upload eligible pictures. Thus, even Wikipedia projects in other languages can use the photographs. For example, using your picture, Image:Wiki uclalat 1429 b933 287588-2.jpg, to illustrate the French article on Proposition 13. Regards. --Bombastus (talk) 23:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • If I were you I would use your user page to let people know who you are, and what is your authority to post the photos. I might alos choose a different licensing tag. Finally, if your photos are free to use load them right to the commons. --evrik (talk) 20:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I started a discussion about what you're doing here because you need to explain what you're doing. Please respond about the Non-Commercial license issue that is displayed on the website. A non-commercial license is unfortunately not allowed on Wikipedia. Also, please explain how you acquired these images. For instance, if the LA Times newspaper has reached some type of agreement with UCLA on these images, then describe the agreement. Royalbroil 13:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Legal Images edit

I'm glad to hear that you have recovered and are better. Many admins would have deleted these images on the spot and discussed it later. I chose to try to salvage them. It didn't work out.

You can always upload any image from the United States that was published before 1923 (that is December 31 1922 and earlier). These images are all in the public domain. Please upload them to Wikimedia Commons so that they can be shared between the Wikipedia projects of the various languages English, German, etc. You would use the license PD-US, which is available at the license window. I usually have 2 windows open, one with Commons and one with the English Wikipedia article. Feel free to ask me any questions that you have about the process. Maybe you could do one image and have me look it over before you go wild. I uploaded over 800 of my images to Commons, and certainly well over 1000 total when you count other people's flickr images that I uploaded. Royalbroil 04:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
