Welcome!

Hello, Tyronnep, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Draft notes

edit

Hi! I have some notes for you about the draft:

  • I saw that you were using Wikipedia as a source. Wikipedia cannot source itself because it's an encyclopedia anyone can edit. As such, it can't really ever be verified enough to where it would be considered a reliable source. You can use the sources in other articles (assuming they're reliable) but you can't use the Wikipedia article itself.
  • The article needs more sourcing to back up the claims in the article. Notability isn't an issue here so what you need to back up are the claims in the article. We can only summarize what has been explicitly stated in the source material, otherwise it can be seen as original research.

I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:18, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi! I wanted to drop another note. I saw that you were using TheFamousPeople as a source, however this website isn't seen as reliable on Wikipedia. The main reasons for this are that the site isn't really clear about where they get their information from and that it has a reputation for having incorrect material. Academic and scholarly sources would be the best places to go for information. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:24, 8 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Draft

Hi, I ran your sandbox through Earwig and found that there were passages that were markedly similar to other publications. However I will note that the first two, TheFamousPeople and assignmentpoint look like they clearly copy from Wikipedia. As such I don't know if this is a case of you copying them or them copying Wikipedia. Either way, just be cautious about this. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:59, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
