Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, TwoMaids&AMop. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Two Maids & A Mop, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. : Bhunacat10 (talk), 15:22, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. {{unblock|I am writing to you because AlexF has unjustly blocked my account. I am one individual who updated the Two Maids & A Mop page with current, accurate information that was not meant to be promotional. The page as it is now (since AlexF changed it) is not correctly representative of the brand and its information. I would appreciate it if you could unblock my account and my IP address, as I did not commit persistent vandalism. I have updated other pages before for franchise systems with the same type of information and have not had an issue. Thank you, - Joey}}

Your edits were in clear violation of WP:COI and WP:PROMO. If you wish to write about something else, something for which you don't have a conflict of interest, let us know what you'll write about instead. Yamla (talk) 18:18, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

It was not my intention to be promotional, and I removed anything that would be considered advertising. The information on the page as it stands now is not entirely accurate, which is what I was attempting to correct. I have done this for other franchises and have not had an issue. It is completely absurd to block my entire IP address and to decline a change in username, since my username is an issue. The point of Wikipedia is to provide current, accurate information, which I did. Removing my edits is doing an injustice to the brand.

Decline reason:

The point of Wikipedia is actually to summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about article subjects; Wikipedia has no interest in what an article subject wants to say about itself. You do not seem to have read WP:PROMO and WP:COI as indicated. You should also read WP:PAID. You mention that "I have updated other pages before for franchise systems with the same type of information and have not had an issue". As your edit history on this account only indicates edits to Two Maids & a Mop, I must conclude that you have used other accounts; you will need to state what these are. You won't be unblocked to continue to edit about Two Maids; as noted above, if you want to edit about unrelated subjects, you may tell us what those are in another unblock request. I am declining this one. 331dot (talk) 22:30, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I believe you mean for this unblock request to be reviewed, so I removed the nowiki tags. --Yamla (talk) 20:04, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
