The Charades edit

Hi Tularehome, I have a bit of an interest in surf groups from California. There's a lot of interesting stuff out there. I see you did some edits on The Charades. Good one and thanks. I stand corrected on a few things too. The discography thanks to you and one or two others looks nearly correct now. Please have a look at my work and if you have any suggestions then please let me know ore edit what you think needs to be. Thanks. Karl Twist (talk) 11:54, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Continued removal of notable person edit

Can you explain why you keep removing a clearly notable person from the Tulare article. You’ve removed this person multiple times now, as well as other criminals, and have never provided an explanation. At this point I have to say it appears you’re attempting to white wash the list so there is no negative coverage of the city.

So at this point I have to warn you to stop removing notable people that are associated with the city as it is now disruptive editing. So stop removing negative material such as this person seemingly because they are a murderer and may portray the city in a bad light.

Additionally it’s very clear you have a conflict of interest regarding this topic, you’ve mentioned it in talk pages but you are not abiding by our COI policies by openly declaring it. I must ask you to abide by these policies when it comes to editing the Tulare article. Canterbury Tail talk 01:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am unsure as how to use this, so if you read this User talk: Canterbury Tail, please let me know and I will respond further. You say that it's very clear that I have a conflict of interest because I've mentioned it before in talk pages. I honestly have no clue as to where you got the wrong assumption. I have not posted anything regarding that topic in talk pages before, because I am not that familiar with talk pages. Furthermore, I am from Tulare, CA myself. May I ask if you are as well? If you are not, may I ask why you are so insistent on trying to promote a town which you are not associated with? I would be more than willing to talk with you on the phone and work with you, but with all due respect, you have been pushy with your comments and opinions. If you would like to talk things out like rational adults, please let me know and I'd be more than happy too. Thank you very much for your time and your long efforts with Wikipedia editing. User talk: Tularehome
So there are two things here.
1) is that you keep on removing someone who is quite clearly referenced as being a person from Tulare. My only assumption on the reason behind that is that since this person is a murderer it paints the city in a negative light. If this is the reasoning, you cannot remove content just because you don't like it, there needs to be a good reason, and a notable person who is referenced as being from Tulare would need a really good reason to remove. If this is not the reason you are removing it then can I ask why you are continually removing Albert Greenwood Brown from the list of notable people of Tulare.
2) as for the conflict of interest, yes you're from Tulare, but you're also the curator of the Tulare Historical Museum, which could be construed as giving you a slight (incredibly slight, be aware I don't think in general this is an issue) conflict of interest when it comes to presenting the city in a good light.
The COI isn't really a big deal here, it's a city, people are allowed to edit cities and add details on them that's not an issue. Since you're so connected to the local museum, it could be a bit more of an issue, but I don't really think so as long as you're able to edit the article neutrally. It's the removal of items, in this case a person, that could cast the city in a negative light that is the problem. You have deleted the mention of this person twice now (I'm assuming the unlogged in IP addresses from Tulare who have also remove it are not you), and not once have you provided any reason as to why you are deleting his entry. Is he from Tulare? Yes. Is he notable? Yes. (Notability guidelines here are governed by WP:CITSTRUCT that say if a person has a Wikipedia article they are notable and can be included.) (Note: under this guideline Richard Torrez should be removed from the article, but since he represented your country in the Olympics he is automatically notable, and even more so for winning the medal, he should have an article created at some point if anyone is interested in doing so.)
No I am not from Tulare. I've never been there. I edited the page as I came across it and it had a few problems so I set about fixing them. Mostly with the addition of non-notable people, and the lack of some notable people. Canterbury Tail talk 01:04, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

User talk:Canterbury Tail Thank you for the response. I will not go back and forth with you in this on-line setting. If you provide me your phone number, I would be more than happy to actually discuss things with you "in person" over the phone. Or if you do not want to list your number, if you provide me with an email address, we can communicate that way. Thank you Tularehome

Unfortunately all discussions should take place here on Wikipedia, this is what the various talk pages are for. Canterbury Tail talk 19:58, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
