Hi - thanks for the message.

I know Jamie personally so my source for his age (which many people ask about) was him!

Not sure how I provide a verifiable source for this?

Anyway I thought having his exact age would be useful rather than the current 2 year bracket?

@Trisclayton, hi there, totally understandable you'd want to add the specific date in then! Wikipedia has very non-intuitive rules about adding living people's birthdates to their articles, found at WP:BLPPRIVACY. Basically, because some people prefer to keep their exact dates of birth private, Wikipedia only allows dates of birth that have been "widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public". So for example if Jamie publicly posted on his website or Twitter or something that his birthday was in February 1995, that would be fine to use as a source.

It might be that such sources do exist, and if so you're welcome to add the info back into the article along with the relevant link; otherwise, it's likely that someone will come along and delete it without some evidence in support. Well Jamie certainly doesn't mind his birthday being known but as you say hard to prove this in a link.

That said just today he did mention his exact age in the following post on LinkedIn:

@Trisclayton: Hmm, I guess using that post as a source could allow you to say he must have been born in 1995 (since if he's 29 today he must have been born in 1994 or 1995, and we already know based on other sources that he must have been born in 1995 or 1996, so logically it has to be 1995). It doesn't add much IMO to what's already in the article, but feel free to add it if you like. Alternatively, if you know Jamie, you could ask him to put his birthdate on his official website. Also, be careful if you're wanting to edit his page about anything else, as you have a conflict of interest due to your friendship with him. There's guidance about this here. The fact that you've declared the conflict is really good and means you're approaching things in the right way. Ideally, you'd also request on the article talk page that any edit be made, rather than making it yourself (and actually, on reflection, you should probably do that in this case as well).
