Welcome edit

Welcome!

Hi Trekkie Speller. It looks like nobody properly welcomed you to Wikipedia yet, so let me be the first to do that. Even though there are nearly 4.4 million pages, the number of people writing seriously for "The Project" is quite small — something in the ballpark of 35,000 people in any given month make 5 or more edits at English Wikipedia. We need more volunteers all the time and your work is appreciated. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, don't hesitate to drop me a line and ask — it does take a while to learn the ropes. Thanks again! —Tim Davenport, Corvallis, OR /// Carrite (talk) 20:23, 26 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Carrite! I'm glad to help! I first made some edits back in August, but after I made about 3 or 4 more edits I realized it would be a good idea to get a username instead of plastering my IP all over Wikipedia. :-P It's actually quite fun, helping the community! Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "SpamInACanMan". The reason given for SpamInACanMan's block is: " Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully. Why can't I edit Wikipedia? Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy. Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username? Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. What can I do now? If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead. If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following: Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must: Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. ".

Accept reason: I softened the block on your IP. However, if your brother is tempted to do this again in the future without an account, this option will be unavailable so you may want to see about requesting IP block exemption should that happen. — Daniel Case (talk) 12:55, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thankyou Nawlin! Really, I'm going to see about getting my ISP to assign two separate IP's to our house so I don't get blocked out of stuff when my brother's being stupid.

Thanks! edit

Thanks for your work on the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement. Certainly there is more to be done, but that's a great start! Keep up the good work! —Tim Davenport, Corvallis, OR /// Carrite (talk) 20:10, 26 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for May 26 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lake County, Oregon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Summer Lake (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
